Contemporary bedroom help for a light purple room? Easy 10 points!? Hey! So, I have a lavender painted room (E:\My Pictures\2009_10_21\IMG_0640.JPG is a pic of part of my room when it was being painted) with warm cherry furniture and a matching sleigh bed. I'm confused on what to put on the bed, though. Links would be amazing! My original idea was just to have lilac or plum/royal purple (to add contrast) sheets and a white down comforter, but that seemed too plain. Do you put something on top of a plain white comforter? Or, in my case, would it be best just to get a comforter? Also, what color palette should I use? Teenage Girl Bedroom? I had a debate on if I should go contemporary or classical for my bedroom furniture, and I decided that I should just go with the furniture that suits my bedroom better, and so I bought a classical bedroom collection. Is 16 too old to renovate a bedroom? For my 16th birthday I want to renovate my room, since from the time I was 4-14 I've had the same, children's furniture in my room. Last year I got "new" furniture, but it was actually my late grandmother's bedroom furniture, and it is quite ugly. Master Bedroom makeover help!? We have a very large 16x19 master bedroom. It has cheap 4-year-old beige and boring carpet and a bit darker beige walls. We have a very nice and contemporary bedroom set in a dark chocolate color. That’s pretty much it. We are trying to figure out what would make the biggest impact… Spend most of our money in very nice wood/laminate flooring, and a few touches of design like wall art, lamps and new bed covers; OR save the money from the wood/laminate floors and buy more furniture, wall mart, a large TV for the wall, better bed covers, etc. I’m thinking that if we skip the wood/laminate floors that the boring carpet will always be an eye sore… BUT going with the wood/laminate flooring will pretty much max out our budget for the makeover… What would you do?

I am having some issues with decorating my master bedroom. Help!? I have a rather large space (17x17 ft) with a vaulted ceiling that angles up and creates a plant shelf above the door to the master bath. I would like some suggestions on what to do with this shelf area. It is about 12 ft long and 4 ft deep and is about 9 ft from the floor and is 5 ft tall. I would say that our style is "transitional" not too contemporary and not too traditional. Also I am having trouble with the color scheme. Our furniture is dark cherry, our bedding is khaki and creme striped and the carpet is beige. The walls are currently khaki and all of the neutrals are starting to get to me!! Suggestions for Contemporary Window Treatment for Palladian window.? I have 2 windows plus a door to my lanai in my 3rd floor FL master bedroom. One of the windows is a large Palladian window. I am totally stumped on what window treatments to use on the windows. I have beautiful water views that I want to be able to see. The only reason for a treatment is privacy in the evening and heat reduction in the summer. I do not need a covering for the door (plenty of privacy). My decorator wants me to install 3" Plantation shutters. My furniture is a mix of antiques, including a canopy bed. Floor is porcelain tile and I will be hanging lots of original rather contemporary artwork. I don't want the window to take over the room, plus I feel I need something softening due to hard flooring and mostly dark wood furniture (cherry, mahogany, pine, walnut, etc). What colour should I paint my bedroom walls? My husband and I bought this contemporary bed set just before christmas. The sheets are satin black, with matching pillow cases and the blanket has lots of horizontal stripes that are varying shades of black and grey. We were going to paint our bedroom walls a very light grey to match it, and then have our cherry wood furniture, plants, and photographs to add colour to the room. Well, a member of our church bought us this beautiful bedset for christmas. It's chocolate with some gold swirly-flowery looking things on it, chocolate sateen sheets, and comes with the fancy decorative pillows. It really is a beautiful set that I absolutely love, but we literally just bought a bedset. I don't want to get rid of either of them, and I don't want to put one in storage until we're "ready" for it, so I'm wondering if there is a wall colour that will match both the black and grey contemporary bedspread, and the chocolate and gold swirly bedspread these are all good suggestions, but the thing is..the black and grey bedspread is striped with several different shades of grey all through it. Every stripe is a different shade, so I'm hesitant to mess with warmer colours like orange or red because it seems like a solid wall of that colour would clash with all the different shades of stripes. Also, someone asked about this...the chocolate bedspread is solid chocolate, with the exception of some gold swirls..there aren't any other colours in that bedspread.

Remodeling a tomboy-ish teen girl's bedroom...? I'm a teenage girl and my parents are going to FINALLY paint the bedrooms next summer. We've lived in our house for two years and they haven't got around to painting the chipping white walls yet. So... The reason I say I'm tomboy-ish is because I absolutely hate pink and purple. Need help with totally boring bedroom!!!!!? I just painted my bedroom. It is really boring at the moment. 3 of the walls are blueish grayish and the 4th is a khaki color. My furniture is dark brown and takes up a lot of room. I would like to add more teen friendly items like bean bags chairs and such but they wont fit in my room and I am afraid they would mess up the contemporary style. Before I painted I wanted to add silver accessories but now I am not so sure they would go with the khaki color. Any help? Would it look okay combining two different color dressers in a bedroom? I purchased a dark stained, simple, contemporary, sort of Shaker style large dresser with mirror and two end tables for my master bedroom. I have my "Ethan Allen" childhood vertical dresser plus another second hand beautiful, well made vertical chest of drawers and lastly my son's baby dresser that I couldn't sell, all in the room also. The gray walls in my bedroom seem to change shade: during the day, it's more of a blue gray, but at night, the color can change to a tint of a purple gray due to the brazillian cherry wood floor, which adds richness to the dullness of the gray walls in the large room. I like the suggestions of accenting the bedroom with blues, lilacs, and/or purples. I was thinking about using a dark plum purple duvet cover in the winter by accenting the bedroom with deep purples and lighter shades of puples, but for the spring and summer, I would like to change my bedding color by getting a comforter (in a shade of hydrangea blue) to give freshness to the room by changing out my accent colors maybe to the light blue hues with some silver. I would like to keep one set of curtains though. What color curtains would be good that would compliment well with dark plum purple as well the lighter blue color? Any ideas would help. Thanks!

I would like some ideas on designing a new living room...? My husband and I are in the process of purchasing new living room furniture. He is currently deployed and I'd love for him to come back to an amazing new design in the room we use most. I'm currently working on all the designs [dining, master, and guest bedrooms] with great success but I cannot seem to find exactly what I want in the living room. Our styles conflict [my own style even conflicts itself at times!] he is into contemporary spaces where as I'm into "livable" spaces. I like some country decor without over doing it but I also really like contemporary decor. It's just so confusing. Bedroom room suite color difference :(? Hello, I bought a contemporary leather bed from scan design and then I went out and bought 2 night tables and a dresser from a different store. Now my problem is that I thought that the bed was bright white and it is Ivory, but the furniture I bought is bright white with a shiny finish to it. I'm painting my room dark red color. Now can someone tell me if this is a good combination or do I have to do something about the furniture (which I really don't want to). Help....... Need help decorating an empty apartment? I just moved yesterday and sadly have realized that I don't own any furniture (and am very grateful I bought myself a bed a few months ago). Since the move is unexpected I only have about a $2500 budget to furnish the living room, dining area, and bedroom. I have decided to go with IKEA since I know that I can get everything within budget. The apartment has wood floors and tan walls throughout (including tan tiles in the bathroom). I like the modern/contemporary styles. I found a couch that I like that comes in both dk. brown or white and would like to build off either. I want something that will flow nicely into the bathroom. I need to figure out a color scheme that will go nicely with everything. Bedroom decorating help!? i'm 15 and i have very old fashioned light pine furniture. it was very expensive and i am not allowed to paint, or get rid of it. however, i am redoing my room and would like a kind of contemporary feel (sort of mod). how can i accomplish this with my existing furniture? also, i am painting the walls white, except for one, with will be black with song lyrics painted on it. my bedding will be black with 6 large white flowers. i think my accent color will probably be red. i wanted to put a hanging bubble chair in the corner of the room, but was unable to find one under 200 dollars, so i think i might put a small armchair in the corner instead. any colors, lighting ideas, seating ideas, or curtain ideas would be appreciated. Romantic bedroom... red and brown? I have large (5' x 4') red rose photo with a contemporary steel frame, I bought for our room I want to use. We would like to have a red wall or half wall. We were thinking red on top with a chocolate or mocha brown on bottom divided with chair rail. I want to mix the reds with browns in the room because I like the natural colors and our furniture is a dark brown. And the red is romantic. I love the looks of boudoirs. it has to be rustic and at the same time glamorous. some things i like to be incorporated in are: *a Morrocan taste (furniture,decorations,candles) *a taste of India (furniture,pillows,decorations,curtains,lamps) *a Dream of Genie kind of theme(pillows,femenine accent) *shabby chic *i want to paint it pink..hot pink and champagne pink (any advice?) *decorations and furniture other colors than pink *i like feng sui decorations *what type of arts (paintings,sculpture) can i get? i'm concerned about the color,if it will look too girlie and teen. i don't want it to look way too much femenine..some advices please! it has to be stylish, chic, a touch of femeninty but yet contemporary and inviting for a bf to come over and have some good time (weekends) or move in some day who knows! pls some links and pics will be very heplful too.. i'm a 13-year old girl desperate for a bedroom makeover!? ...but not as in painting and remodeling - just mostly reorganzing and redecorating, and i need some help with ideas! i want the feel of my room to be kind of calm/serene. my bedsheets are blue and brown but not dark brown), so i guess im going for that color palette (however, flowers/accents can be blue/green). i've already got some ideas, like, putting in a few vases of flowers and hanging some cute wall art. i also kind of want that contemporary-ish feel (kind of like the rooms on design on a dime). for instance, i have this big windowsill that has many stuffed animals on it, and i'm movng them out. what could i put on the windowsill? and also i have a bookshelf that i'm clearing all the junk off the top of it. i was thinking i could get different sized glass jars and fill them with seashells, but i don't where i could put them. it's like i have so many ideas but i don't know how to use them! but i'm not going to paint or buy furniture. please help; thanks so much! heres a rough plan of my room...sorry for the messy/crappyness! http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii165/fashionbloggert/room.jpg

queer eye for the straight guy? i've been renting a three bedroom house for a couple of years now. not ready to buy it yet, if ever, but it's such an incredible deal (900 mo compared to 1200 mo in the neighborhood) i can't bring myself to move. i want to maybe turn the dining room into an office(since nobody ever sits there anyway, to eat, maybe drink beer sometimes) and turn the living room into the music studio which currently occupies the master bedroom. the master bedroom is just too, back there and i don't like people( unknown musicians) tromping through the house. all of my furniture sucks and i just want to call the salvation army and just have them remove it and start over. so....the questions are *i want a tasteful utilitarian look in the living room/ music studio *i want the master bedroom to become a sparse but contemporary den/family room(tv basically) *i want the dining area which sits between the living room and the kitchen, divided fro the living room by a half wall about 4 ft. tall, to be an office thing. *i have a treadmill that has been displaced into a closet but want to use it....somewhere. is it possible to do these things and make it look right? how little can i spend? where should i look for deals?

What are some cheap ways to...? Make a room look more modern and contemporary? It is kinda of a small bedroom (12x16) but I want it to look more modern. Can someone tell me some ways to acheive this? Currently I have a wood dresser (Planning to paint black and add stainless steel curveed handles), a glass TV stand, and a beat up looking futon and ugly brown carpet (With damaged wood floors underneath) Also my wal;ls a seafoam green. What can I add to change this room? What colors should I use, what acessories? New Room, New style!? I'll be 15 soon & my parents are letting me have the downstairs as my room. It's fairly big & I currently have a very small room so i'm so excited! The downstairs is like 2 rooms & a hall leading into a bathroom but the rooms were put together so it looks like one. I was thinking of making the bigger room sort of like a hang out area & decorating it differently & than putting like something to separate the room & making it my bedroom. I would have to use the new furniture I recently bought. (A light wood day bed & matching dresser). I need ideas for the different rooms. & bathroom. I love cities, all different ones (NYC (live close to here, LOVE IT), LA, Rome, Paris, Tokyo, e.t.c. So I want to maybe incorporate this into the hang out room. I love pink (Maybe in bedroom?), pretty girly, love memobilias & things, shopping. I just want a nice contemporary room that's fun & different. (Nothing boring!) & Not just one color. Different! Decorating around boyfriend's burgundy duvet cover? I have moved into my boyfriend's house, and we're working on remodling and redecorating. I'm stuck when it comes to the bedroom. He's got dark brown (big, heavy) furniture, that is staying for now, and a burgundy duvet cover which he doesn't want to part with. Burgundy is probaby my least favorite color when it comes to interior design. So my question is: What other colors can I use in the room that will complement the burgundy, but will still keep it looking contemporary and fresh? The room doesn't' get a ton of natural light, so dark colors on the wall won't work. Please help!

How to Re-Design My Bedroom? I'm 14. Im looking into re-designing my bedroom. So i want to re-do it. I still like the green and blue and browns, but i cannot decide if i should go with that color scheme or a red type. I like bohemian style rooms but i know if i try to decorate it like that, it would come out bad. i like the paris style bedroom but i cannot decide if i should do that. I was planning on doing a dark brown wall with light green ceiling and white comforter with green throw pillows and green sheet with my white furniture but now im getting second thoughts. I'm going to have this for the next 4 years so it has to be the right choice? no yellows or pinks! what should i do? im on a budget too. websites are appreciated and advice please! How can I make my room more punk, goth, rock, emo ish? We just got a new house and some of the rooms were already painted. The room that I get has a black door black trim black closet doors black blinds and a black ceiling fan light. Sounds great but whoever's room it was before must have either been into a soho ish look or a modern contemporary style because the walls and ceiling are a boring beige color. Keep in mind the following: I am male. Painting over the beige is NOT an option. My furniture is a dark wood color not cherry stain but like a dark oak... so with the beige it looks more adult and classy and whatever. I dress pretty much punk, rock, emo, goth etc... I live a very alternative lifestyle and I want my bedroom to reflect that. I do have some punky looking bedding I got from wakeup frankie called prep school dropout but how else can i make it look more alternative and not so boring and classy. I'm really against and not at all into that desinger classy regular adult way of life... Thanks! For those of you who aren't answering my question and basically bashing how I choose to live my life maybe you should get one. I posted this so I could get help not a headache so go flame someone elses posts or get a life. Now if anyone else would like to actually HELP me please do. Thanks :D
