How could I refinish my bedroom furniture? I recently purchased a bed, bed-side table, and dresser for my bedroom. It has a smooth, black finish on it. The black color is ok, but I didn't realize how much it would show dust, and I'm getting kind of tired of it. How would I go about refinishing it and maybe staining it? I'm not sure the exact type of wood it's made of. Do you think it could possibly get wrecked if I refinished it with a light wood stain after sanding it? Thanks.

How do I re-finish a bedroom furniture set? I'm looking to refinish my bedroom dressers and nightstand. My plan is on plugging the holes left from the old hardware, sanding off the current finish, drilling new holes for the new hardware, and restaining it. What types of finsih should i look at? Is white spruce a good wood for furniture - particularly bedroom furniture? Hi, I'm thinking about getting an unfinished dresser so I can match an old bed I already have, but I wanted to know if the particular dresser I'm looking at is made out of good wood or just something junky. It's made out of white spruce. Would you say that's an okay wood? I know cherry and mahogany are really good woods for furniture, but aside from that, I'm clueless. Thanks.
