I have a guest bedroom, that needs some decorating..? I live in an apartment and I am not allowed to paint. My walls are white & the carpet is beige. Any ideas as to what theme I should do? ps. I would like to do a modern asian theme, but not sure how that would work with white walls..
ideas for decorating a pink guest room? One of our guest bedrooms has striped pink walls (think old Victoria Secret bag colors) and white molding. I love the way it will look as a nursery someday. In the mean time, I want it to look more like a grown-up guest room. Any suggestions for furniture, color scheme, bedding, etc that will give it a more adult feel?
Guest bedroom/Nursery Ideas...? My husband and I are going to decorate our guest bedroom. We will plan on having it into a nursery in the future though. So here is the trick. We want it to be able to stay mainly the same. When we do decide to have a baby, we will buying a whole bunch of new items, so we don't want to have to worry about redoing the room, again. Any dos and don'ts on making a room like this? Any personal ideas. The room is pretty small, but would be able to fit a twin bed, crib, changing table and dresser well, in the future.
Guest bedroom ideas and suggestions? I have these ideas, but i have no sense of decorating style. I would like to paint our guest bedroom a teal blue and have cream carpets, with brown bedding, i would like put up a wall decal in brown rather than getting a head board. I have some ideas picked out but i want it to be a grown up style room. I have a few quotes picked..."Dream", "Live well, laugh much, love often", "life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away" i just dont know if that is childish or weird to see when walking into a guest bedroom. i will more than likely have darker dresser and light brown window treatments...Does this sound like a disaster???
Color schemes for guest bedroom? I'm decorating my new house, and I'm trying to figure out how to do my guest bedroom. My guest bathroom is going to be a simple black and white theme with red accents. It's an overdone theme, but it's the theme my bathroom is currently in at my apartment, and I'd like to do something new in my master bath in my house. I have no idea what to do with the guest bedroom. I don't want it to be bland, but I don't want it to be completely overwhelming for my guests either. The walls are white, and I was going to leave them white. The carpet is navy blue. My master bedroom is going to be done in white and yellow accents. I wasn't sure about using the same scheme for the guest room too, but I wanted others opinions. I'm open to painting, but not changing the carpet. It's out of budget for the time being. I've been living in an apartment for 3 years and have never really been able to decorate. Can anyone help? I have a few extra things that I got as gifts when I moved out, and they are, like a sage green. I have curtains and a few vases.
Bedroom Decorating Ideas + Convincing? So I know I have asked this question before but I am asking again so please help me! So I moved into the house i live in now when I was two years old. I still have the same bedroom which is about the size of a dorm room maybe a bit smaller. Now I will tell you flat out that my parents can be are cheap on a lot of things. Six years ago my brother was born and got the guest room which is bigger and more spacious than mine. Note until I was nine I was an only child. I did not want a sibling thought if I did everything right he just wouldnt come. So when my mom asked if i wanted the bigger room I said no. I said no for many reasons. For one i wanted part of my life to stay the same I also as i said was hoping he just wouldnt come. I was nine and scared what can i say? Anyway since my bro has been born I have gotten my walls re-painted by my dad and the same furniture i have had re-arranged. Thats it! I got to do that when I was about 11 years old. Now i am almost 15 and I kind of want a bigger room and a room that refelects me who I am. I honestly do not see any reason a six year old little boy needs a bigger room than an 15 year old teenage girl. I do not want all new furniture bed or anything I want: The bigger room-my brothers To Paint it Get a Duvet New lamp possibly Thats basically it. My furniture is easy to go with anything as it is natural looking. Anyway i need help with two things: Thing One: HOW and HELP to get my parents to agree to get me that room. I was thinking about just asking every christmas, birthday, stuff like that till they get the idea but by then i will be a sophmore/junior almost in collgege and they wont agree cause i will be moving out soon. So help with that Thing Two:Help Decorating. I want something new and fresh. NO PINK!! I live in the beach area and was thinking green/ yellow/orange but i am open to all ideas. PS help with a lamp? Do you think this is un reasonable? I really like this kind of room. What do you think ? http://www.zimbio.com/Teen+Bedroom+Decorating+Ideas/articles/2/Great+Teen+Bedroom+Decorating+Ideas+Girls PLEASE HELP STILL I like i think it is the first one of the rooms. The light blue walls and white furniture Alice- I might see your point but my brother dosnt care and my room is this weird blue color same as his room.

Can you give me ideas/help for decorating single guy's house? I'm a thirty-year-old single guy. I like dogs, the outdoors, my Jeep Wrangler, autumn, good wine, travel, photography... I'm trying to integrate my "likes" into my home. I have painted my living/dining room two colors of khaki, and a chalkboard-green wall. I have a brown leather couch, and walnut tables and bookcases. I've also remodeled my guest bathroom - new flooring, hardware, paint, etc. However, I'm trying to get ideas on decorating... accent pieces, dining room furniture, bedroom furniture (blank slate right now) and my own bathroom. I need help finding websites for "bachelor pads" and masculine design (not a lot of flowery-things). I'd like to redo the kitchen with the small tiles as a backsplash. I'd like to find websites/books/magazines that show off a masculine home. Pictures are a must!! The main goals are to have a cool guy's house and up the resale value. Serious responses only... any help is appreciated. Thanks! As I said, folks... I need pictures, websites, magazines, etc. While I appreciate the suggestions, does no one know of ANY place to LOOK at pictures to get ideas? That's what I'm wanting.
Decorating Teen bedroom? I am moving into what used to be the guest room in my house, and I get to paint the walls, and get new accessories (including comforter.) The walls are tall, and the ceiling is slanted on all sides - overall the room is not very big, though. I've been having the hardest time picking colors for my walls. I LOVE stripes, and dots, and I DON'T want baby colors, or Purple colors. I want a room that I look good in. (lol.) So no lime green colors, or anything. I want my room to be warm, happy, and vibrant, but I don't want to get tired of it after a long time. I thought of black and white horizontal stripes, and I could add any color accessories to it later - does anyone have a room like that? I'm pretty girly, and I don't want my room to look punk, or anything. Anyone have stripes, or dots in their room? I'm also doing my bathroom to match the colors, and I have carpeted floor in my bedroom. Any ideas? Links to websites, and pictures would be awesome. THANKS!! I have light, normal colored carpet - not white, but kind of sand colored...
Awesome ideas on decorating a master bedroom? (Bro+Sis sharing)? My bedroom -master bedroom- that i share with my bro needs some decorating tips..pictures would be awesome. Things i like- -Paris,France -Pink (Anything a girl would like basically) I'd like anything calming too..i was thinking of a mint-like color, something with that calm aroma! My brother likes anything blue, and we have this wall for him that has his hats hanging on it and some baseball posters,a bulletin board,a shelf with his stuff in it. we have 3 beds in the room, queen sized bed,and two twin sized beds (we cant get rid of any beds b/c they're for guests and etc.) How do i work around that? Help? (i want some really cool ideas for a boy and girl sharing a room.. doesn't have to be pink/blue. pictures are mostly preferred) Thanks :]
Home Decorating Ideas? My Fiance and I recently purchased our first home together, but I'm having serious trouble when it comes to decorating it. I have the kitchen, dinning room, and guest bedrooms taken care of, but I am completely stumped when it comes to decorating my living room and master bedroom. Both the living and the master are neutral colored, earth tones, with a beige/off-white carpet, so I was hoping to stay in the more neutral color pallet with accent pillows for color? I don't like the really plushy look, and my Fiance and I both want a more modern/contemporary look/feel, but neither of us want the metal frames. I guess a sleek look? Young maybe? We don't want our friends coming over feeling like they've walked into Grandma's house. For our bedroom we really wanted a 'zen' theme. Simplistic, Asian-style, blacks with red accent maybe? We've an opening above the door leading from the master bedroom to the master bath that we'd like to play off of. (It looks like those arches at Japanese temples). Any suggestions on how I can decorate these two rooms? Wall art, furniture, bedspreads, etc.
Decorating a teenage bedroom? I am moving into what used to be our guest room in my house, and I am planning on painting my room, and getting new accesories, but not furniture. :( I have all white furniture (twin bed, desk, dresser.) and the room has a white closet, and white blinds. (I can change the blinds, but nothing else.) I want to decorate my room in a way that reflects me, but It's been taking me forever just to pick colors. I don't really have a favorite color - I used to like purple, but I sort of outgrew that phase. I want to paint my room something that is bold, and warm, and welcoming, and really expresses someone happy, vibrant, and girly. Does anyone have suggestions for my walls, bedspread - anything really? The room isn't huge, But it has really tall walls, and I don't want to paint it dark because it'll make it seem to small. Does anyone know any books that might help, too? (Besides Super Suite by Mark Montano - I already have that.) THANKS!
Do you have theme rooms in your house?or certain types of styles in your house? I haven`t finished decorating all the rooms in my new house yet, I just haven`t figured out exactly what I want to do with them all yet,but my kitchen and dining room is done in country and my livingroom and guest bedroom is done in western and my daughters room is done in victorian. Now in my old house we had fish, dolphins and whales a ocean theme in one of my bathrooms and my sons room was done like a horror film he loved it so I was wondering how many other people do theme rooms?
I need help decorating my new house? I just bought a new house (which can be a little overwhelming) and have lots of ideas of how I want to decorate some of it - the dining area, kitchen, bathrooms, but I need decorating ideas for the bedrooms, mine and other 2 guest bedrooms and the living room area. If you have any good bedding sites or creative decorating tips they would be much appreciated. Also, unique ideas for making the house modern and one-of-a-kind. Budget is not an issue, I just want the best ideas you have to offer. The house is pretty new and has an outdoor patio/deck and grille/kitchen area. If you have any decorating products or ideas for the outdoors I would like them too. I love to entertain guests but at the end of the day have a place I can relax as well. Any ideas are welcome!
Decorating help with white bed linens...? Hi, I want to do an organic look guest bedroom. It is a pretty small room but I still need help. The walls are a greyish shade and the trim is white. The room is too small for end tables- I have a dark wood sleigh bed, and tv stand. Just put all white linens on bed and like it but don't know where to go from here. What color or design drapes? Pics? Florals? Rug? I want the look to be complete Zen, if you have any suggestions it would help. Thank you!
Teenage girls bedroom? I've just moved out of my mums house and into my dads house, and before when i stayed there i was in this guest bedroom, it really isnt very well decorated for a teenage girl, so my dad said it could be like MY room and i can redecorate it after the summer.... but i have no idea where to start, i want it to look quite indie, with like browns and light blues and greens, like nature colours, and i want it to be fashionable, i have 2 single beds that can turn into a double and it is medium sized, like i can fit a desk and stuff into it. so yh any help ? like websites to help me or pictures or something!
Music Room Decorating Ideas...? I'm 14 years old, and I'm moving into a new house. It's still being buit right now, but we'll move in next month. Me and my sister convinced my parents to give us the guest bedroom as our music room. I play electric guitar (and hopefully acoustic one day), flute, piano, and I have a keyboard, too. And my sister's gonna get a drumset and she plays french horn. So that room will be used to play our instruments and stuff. I was just wondering what you think would be a cute layout of the room. The main objects would be the drumset, piano, and keyboard. I also have 2 guitars, and I was wondering if I should display them on guitar stands instead of putting them in the cases. Please give me tips on the layout of the room! Also, I was wondering how we could decorate it to make it look cooler. We're not allowed to paint the walls, but is there any way we can ...make it more than just an empty room with plain white walls? Any tips and help would be appreciated!!
Is it wrong to request things for kids/guest bathroom on your wedding registry? I would like to decorate our main bathroom, but it is also our children's bathroom (one door connects to their bedroom). The kids are 4 and 1 years old so I didn't want something too mature in that bathroom just because it is also a guest bathroom nor do I want to use some Disney theme. I wanted a "sea life" theme, but brightly colored. Would people be offended if I put things on the registry that they thought was for my kids only?
Hi,I have a 3 bedroomed house and want to start decorating my toddlers room.? At the moment, hes occupying the box room as we thought, small person, small room! However, were considering putting him in the 2nd bedroom, which is the same size as the master bedroom. This is normally used for guests, not that we have many of those. Any advice on whether a small bedroom is sufficient,or whether he needs more space! Most of his toys live in the lounge too.Thanks.
Im SO excited!? We are about to move into a new house. My mom knows that I LOVE interior decorating so she siad that I could design and decorate the guest bedroom. The bedroom is brown now,I can paint it if I want. What are some good ideas? The room is kinda small, but it has room for a pretty big bed and a bedside table. I dont have a spending limit either, but I cant go crazy! It doesnt matter what color it is,like if I found a blue bedspread I woud paint it blue
Is it a home decor no no for the wall color to be similar or very close to the floor color? I am decorating my guest bedroom and I found this beautiful turquoise blue and brown quilt set for the room and used that for the building block foundation for the rest of the room. Beautiful combo, but I just noticed that my carmel wall color is very close to the color of my hardwood floors. Will this look good or bad? The Curtains are Turquoise coordinating with the bedding, so there is plenty of blue to balance it out, or should I go with another paint color? The quilt has, turqoise, light green, blues, carmel (brown) and a lighter beige color. Thanks!
Home Decorating: stick w/one theme throught whole house or is it overkill? My husband and I recently bought a 2005, 4bdrm, 3bath home in the Dallas metro area. We made the first floor office room into a small home gym, and the upstairs game room into my husband's home office (which he needs a ton of room as he works from home). kept the remaining bedrooms as guest bedrooms, both w/ Q-size beds. Eventually, we plan to move the servers elsewhere and convert the server room into a third bedroom. If we have a baby in the meantime, we will keep it in the master br w/ us at least until the child is three years old, but probably closer to five. I want a palm/date tree feel to the house. Not "tropical" feel in the sense of islands or "beaches", but more Middle Eastern/mediterannean feel. Would it be overkill to carry this theme throughout the house. We have ab 3.200 square foot home, with the MBR the only BR downstairs. Should I do something different upstairs? Or should I only keep this theme in the Living Areas downstairs? Pls chk links n add'l details My plans-- I'll have all of these tastefully framed. Any suggestions? I did this in about three consecutive hours and any specific suggestions (ie specific pictures rec'd by you for specific rooms) will be warmly recieved, even if I disagree. PLEASE OFFER YR OPINION--no more qualified than me or anyone else. PS my SO and I are srius animal lovers. House overall is very modern and accessible. We're picky and we love it. Kitchen modern, open to informal dining room/living room and adjacent to formal LR/DR. Painted good colors, no tacky wallpaper/borders. Informal LR has fireplace, also the doorway to the back patio/in-ground pool...Which is why we'd like to keep the painting over the mantle loose/ medit/Mid/\-East palmy, etc. to make a good transition. We are sick to death of the euro look. I loved Art Deco ad posters 10yrs ago when the yuppies still had wine/cigar labels on their wall. Much as I love it, its been run into the ground. No French Bistro scenes without spoon to gag myself plz. gCol=96AA4891E9EA319F&ui=433B35851B904BE69A52D8DE4ECB4997 CLICK THIS ONE, NOT THE FIRST ONE!!!http://www.art.com/asp/MyGallery/gallerylist-asp/_/gt--gl/posters.htm?gCol=96AA4891E9EA319F&ui=433B35851B904BE69A52D8DE4ECB4997
How to decorate my new room? I'm moving into my guest bedroom and the furniture in a lighty brown wood colour and the curtains are yellow so what colour mostly goes with them and do u have any tips on how to decorate?
Help! I am decorating a living room, child's bedroom and my own bedroom and i don't know what to do? My living room is white, atm. and the only furniture is a gray wrap around couch and pale peach window sheer curtains. I want to make the room bolder but i don't know what to do. We decided we are dying the curtains to save a little money and the walls are going to antique white because its a simple color. I want to make bold the curtains and some throw pillows but i don't know what color to do. My daughters bedroom will be a light blue. My husband and i have a tight bedroom so that is going to be a cream (lily of the valley) and a pale green color. the only problem is i don't know what to do with the living room and what colors to use. I want it to feel warm and welcoming but relaxing since we watch movies in there all the time and have guests. what can we do?? Any suggestions? Advice? If it helps, the house is one story rancher type so you can under stand how the living room would look like.
I want ideas for a room that i am decorating!! :-) ? I really like arts and crafts stuff and I have a ton of different art supplies that I have been keeping in the guest bedroom but my brother just moved out and my parents said that I could keep all of my stuff in there instead. I am so excited :-) but I really want to repaint cuz it is dark blue right now and it is not looking so good.I have lime green, turqoise, black, white, and brown wall paint from previous times and my parents said I can basically paint it whatever I want in there but if I need any other colors I have to buy it myself but I don't mind buying one other color like pink or something. There won't really be any furniture in there except for storage and a table or two so I really want the walls to really pop by themselves. I am a 15 year old girl and will be doing all the painting by myself, otherwise I would probably do like zebra print :-) so it has to be something easy to do.! If u have read this whole thing up until here then I think u are amazing because it is reallllly long but thank you and please help me!!! :-)
how can i create a nursery/ guest room? i would like to create the second of our two bedrooms into a nursery/ guest room. im not worried about the guest having to room with our 10 month old, simply because she sleeps with us still lol. but i would like to fit a crib, a twin bed, a night stand, a tv, a glider, a dresser and a possible a bookshelf or a toy box in there. the room is as big as the master bedroom except without the bathroom. so i think space is not the issue. if anything i guess we could put the dresser in the closet or the glider in the living room. im just not sure how to arrange everything. like should i try and make it one functional room or should i keep everything 'baby' on the 'baby side' and everything 'guest' on the 'guest side'? and since all her crib bedding and decor are pinks and baby colors, should i try to decorate the 'guest' stuff to match the 'baby' stuff or should i try and differentiate the two and make the 'guest' stuff more adult-like?
Looking for something to put in a small picture frame? So I'm looking to add a few small pieces to a guest bedroom in my house, and have these nice little picture frames I just haven't thought about what would look nice in them, most of the room is decorated with framed 12" vinyl records so I really need something to go with that. the walls are painted in such a way that it looks like stucco, any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
I am using the bagua to decorate my home...as a whole..not just room to room. Got ideas or suggestions? I am good with most areas; however, the black, water, career area of our home covers two guest bedrooms. I need design ideas or suggestions as to how to incorporate the color black, the element water, and / or mirrors into these areas. Or if anyone knows of a book that has photographs of techniques used to accomodate the principles of feng shui applied to various rooms within a home, I am interested in learning the title of it. Feng shui... it's not just for your desk!

I have an extra door and no idea what to do with it. Any ideas on how to cover it up? I just moved into a new apartment and my bathroom has two doors: one that leads into the hallway and one that leads into my bedroom. I keep the door leading into the hallway locked and have no intention of using it. What are some good ideas (decorating tips or otherwise) to keep guest from walking out that door and only using the door that leads to my bedroom? (e.g. to cover up the door in a fashionable manner.)
How Should I Decorate My Bedroom? Firstly,My bedroom's a mixture of colour's. Baby-Pink,Maroon,Peach & Light Brown. The problem is I have a guest-bed in my room. The colour of it right now is blue. This ruin's the bedroom and doesn't go in a flow of colour's. My bed is fine,it's pink:)! So I have a massive problem that might need to be solved. I want the room to look perfect. Maybe with some homemade decoration's. I can't exactly go out and buy some. So I will have to use things like: Button's,Gem's,Card,Paint,Ribbon,String,Feather's,etc. I'm not aloud to change the guest-bed's colour as-well. So just some simple decoration's,to make my room look good. I have ton's and ton's of artificial flower's too! could I make anything out of them? I also have doll's and teddie's. Thank You Everyone:)!xx
bedroom organizing tips? i just moved into a new house and i wanna make my bedroom really organized and cute. i have SOOO much stuff. clothes, desk stuff, toiletry products, makeup and so much more stuff. any little random tips on organizing your room easily? or cute bedroom idea or anything? i wanna decorate my room cause it used to be a guest room and it looks really touristy.
How should I decorate my master bedroom? So, I'm trying to decorate our bedroom (on a shoe string budget). We are newlyweds with very different styles. My husband is an avid outdoors man and hunter. While I love the outdoors I don't want to live in a hunting lodge. In an effort to keep all of his hunting paraphernalia in one room I'd like to put it all in our bedroom. (keeps it out the parts of the house where guests would be) He's got several paintings, drawing and pictures of hunting scenes, two mounted deer heads, one mounted elk (it's huge) and one turkey tail. Along with some carved ducks. What I'm thinking is doing it like a 50's style lounge meets hunting lodge. Think along the lines of if Frank Sinatra had a weekend hunting lodge. I'm thinking putting all of the photos and "heads" on one wall. Maybe paint the wall a silvery pale gray or a pale blue. Either leaving the frames the mismatched woods that they are or painting them all silver or white. Painting the other walls either pale blue or maybe white. I thought I could add silver vintage elements (maybe paint some of the wood ducks silver). Maybe use chocolate brown as an accent? Any opinions or suggestions? Do you think this could look neat? Help!!!!! (I posted this yesterday and did not receive any answers)
When do you start decorating the baby's room? I'm 4 1/2 months (19 weeks 4 days) but I've been looking at crib bedding sets online and getting all excited. I've already found the bedding set I want and been thinking about how to paint the walls in the baby's room. We already know it's a boy from a clear 3d ultrasound. The bedroom was a guest room that we've already emptied so right now the room is empty. When do most people start doing up their baby's room with paint, furniture & decorations? Should I wait till the last trimester to make sure nothing goes wrong? Or should I wait till just before he is born? Or when??? This is my first baby. Dokta, What does wrapping yourself in cotton wool mean?? I don't get it...
Are we better to keep our twins in the same bedroom or seperate? My girlfriend is expecting twins in 2 months and I know I am obviously thinking way way ahead! lol Just wondering as I am now decorating our house, we have 3 bedrooms, one is obviously ours, the other 2 I don't know whether to decorate them both for the babies, so each has their own room, or just one and keep the other as a guest room? We don't know if we are having boys or girls but they will both be the same sex. Will having separate rooms help them develop their own Identity or will it be hard for them to be separated Obviously we will have them in our room at first but what sort of age should we think about putting them in their own rooms?
how to decorate my light purple room? I want to decorate a very light purple bedroom in my house. It is a medium sized square room that we use as a guest room. I have birch veneer bed and white blinds. what kind of bed covering and other decorations will go with this. Thanks.
Decorating a Small Studio Apartment? Looking for ideas and/or websites that deal with decorating a small living space (approximately 415 sq ft). Here is a floor plan: http://www.baker-re.com/baker/projects/morgan/floorplans/wellington.htm Something to keep in mind is that the small alcove to the left of the kitchen has a twin-sized murphy bed. The kitchen and bathroom are very generous in size, but the living space is minimal. Just wondering how I could make the apartment cozy and bedroom-like, but still entertain guests. Thanks for your help!
How do you get your parents to let you move into a different room? Ok so I have a big room with three beds in it (my room is really 2 rooms without a wall in between, and my bed is on one side and the other beds are on the other side.) and before any of you think she is so spoiled and has a big room, My three big sisters all shared this room before they moved out. So any way I want to move into the guest bedroom because it's only one bed and it's independent. Another reason is when my parents friends are staying here, some times they have to sleep in the other 2 beds so I can't decorate my room the way I want it. If I moved in the guest bedroom, I would be able to decorate it the way I want and have my own small room. My mom doesn't want me to move into the guest bedroom because she loves the way the guest bedroom looks already and she doesnt want to have to move and change Everything. Please tell me what I have to do to get her to let me move in to that room. (even if it has to be a B-day present are something) thanks!! :)
Is it okay to paint every room beige when you're staging your house? I'm painting and decorating my house, not specifically to sell, but with the thought in mind that we're going to sell in a couple of years, so the house has to be decorated as we will stage it. I really don't want to do much work when I'm trying to sell. I found a color of beige (ralph lauren's cottonwood) that I absolutely love and I just can't find anything else that I love as much. I decided to paint the living room, basement, hall bathroom, hall, and master bedroom that color. I'm trying to decide on a color for the guest bedroom and I can't find another color that I love as much. I would do a neutral color for the guest bedroom even if I didn't do the beige. And I know that it's good to go neutral when you're selling, but the thing is, the living room, hallway, hallway bath, guest bedroom, and master bedroom are all right there together and you can stand in the hall and see them all from one spot. I did that on purpose because I didn't want a different color in every room and it's like the amazing technicolored house that doesn't flow. but I'm worried that a buyer will come in and be like beige overload. What do you think, can you overdo it on beige when selling your house or should I break it up and paint the guest room a neutral sage or something?
how should I decorate this room. It is a 4 in one room? I mean it is my toddlers daughters main bedroom/ older kids 13 nd 11 and her playroom/ guest room and my office. I want it to be fun for her but mature enough for guests and nice for me too. But allow her imagination to come into play. It is light yellow at the moment but I planning on turning it light pink. I just do not know what to do. Any suggestions would be great.
How can I decorate an apartment so small? I live in the smallest apartment one bedroom , living room, and kitchen. I have a problem when guests enters the house they directly see the living room and kitchen. Im on a very tight budget i want to decorate in a more stylish but affordable way with out taking my furniture out! any small things i can do to boost my apartment.
Need help decorating!? My husband and I just bought our first house and are in the middle of remodeling it. I have NO decorating sense. I wish I did, I always watch HGtv and love what they do. I was hoping someone could tell me what they think are good paint colors for the following rooms: There are five bedrooms: master, baby's (we dont have one yet so I was thinking like yellow or green?), guest 1 and 2 and my hubby's office. The living room, kitchen, and bonus family room. We're 22 (well technically I'll be 23 next week :) lol) so I'd like something modern. Thanks so much!!! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!! oh yeah, the kitchen is kind of small. What colors make a room look bigger. I need new cabinets, counter tops and appliances! I have no idea what colors to pick!!!
Music Room!!!? We're not allowed to paint the walls, but is there any way we can make it more than just an empty room with plain white walls? Any tips and help would be appreciated!!
How to organize and decorate a large house on a tight budget. (Please read full description)? Okay, so I'm 12 years old, and my mom's birthday is coming up in about a month. She says she doesn't want ANYTHING for her birthday, but I know she wants the house CLEAN and ORGANIZED. It's really important to her and the house is really messy! And I can clean it pretty easily but I really don't know 1)Where to start and 2)How to organize it and decorate it. We're on a tight budget right now because of the economy... My house is 4 stories! On the top floor is the Master bedroom and Master Bathroom, another bathroom (we only use this bathroom for getting ready,we don't shower in that bathroom because we have to get the plumbing fixed, that might sound weird because the sink works but the shower leaks for about 4 hours after you turn it off), my sister's bedroom, a small closet with alot of shelves, and a spare bedroom. (I was thinking of making that into my walk-in closet, because it used to be my room but i switched bedrooms, but if it can be used for another purpose then i wont). On the next floor, (the ground floor? I'm not sure but it's the one with the front and back door) we have the living room, the dining room, and a small kitchen. The kitchen is really small and it's really important to my mom because she loves cooking and everything so I want to make the kitchen really special. That floor only has 3 rooms because the living room is really big lol. And then the next floor has another living room which is a little bigger then the other one, (so basically, giant.) a bathroom/ laundry room, a small closet with no shelves, a guest bedroom, and the door to the garage. And in the basement (which isnt like a storage basement, it has rooms) there is a computer room, which is the size of the other living room, but it also has a walk in closet, and there's my bedroom, and then the boiler room. Please help! Oh and please don't think I'm bragging about my house because I'm really not trying to! I'm trying to tell the people that are going to help me how the house is set up for help with organizing!
How can I decorate to use it as 2 functions? I have a guest bedroom and in the morning I'd like to do my yoga and pilates in there to keep my puppies away. I want to decorate it for that purpose (very relaxing and serene) but at the same time I still want it to be used as a guest bedroom for people to stay and me to store things. Any tips? The bedroom has a full bed, a dresser and an armoire if that matters. right now the only thing in the room is the full bed and it's not going anywhere so don't say get rid of it. the dresser and armoire may or may not be coming next month so im really just planning with the bed in mind.
How long will it take me to decorate my room? It is an average size double room with a small walk in wardrobe (that I also want to decorate the same). The complication is that it is on the top floor attic space with a staircase down and the door on the floor below. There is a window on each floor and three doors (entrance, en-suite and wardrobe) and the skirting and bainster for the stairs. So there is a fair amount fo woodwork about and a partly slooping ceiling for the appex of the roof. There should be much prep work to do as the house is fairly new, the builders just didn;t use very good quality paint and I want it blue not cream, so just a light sand and a wipe down every surface should surfice I think. We will put only one coat on the woodwork as it looks pretty good already. Two coats of white on the ceiling and two coats of blue on all other surfaces. And wall-paper for one wall for a feature. I am new to this, how many hours/days will it take us (one person most the time, two when work allows)? We will remove most the furniture and cover the large items. We will live downstairs in the guest bedroom for as long as it takes. Just your best guess is fine.
What do you think of my book so far? I didn't write too much. Please take the time to read it, and make suggestions. thanks! I didn’t know. My mom didn’t know. My sister didn’t know. My grandparents didn’t know. My aunt and uncle didn’t know. We were all fooled. None of us had any idea what he was hiding. He had a secret that he planned on taking to his grave. *** June 17, 1990 The day my parents got married. My mom was in a beautiful, classic wedding dress. It was strapless and showed off her curves. The train was too long, but my mom loved it, so no one said anything. When my mom walked down the aisle she was glowing. My dad’s breath was taken away. Mom looked so amazing, and dad felt like the luckiest guy in the world. They were perfect for each other, everyone agreed on that. People were jealous of them as they left for their honey moon in the stretch limo. Their future was bright. Everyone knew they would have an amazing life together. My parents were so happy and they couldn’t wait to begin their life together. *** We found out on my birthday. He said he couldn’t be there for me because of work (his usual excuse that we all bought for the longest time). Mom wanted to cheer me up by bringing me to an amusment park. We ran into them there. *** July 2, 1990 The day my parents moved into their new home. It had four bedrooms, three bathrooms. The master bedroom was decorated by Mom. One other bedroom was decorated; it served the purpose of a guest room. The two other bedrooms were left empty, but everyone knew that those rooms would be the kid’s rooms. They had the perfect backyard for entertaining. There was a large deck that fit a table with eight chairs, four lounge chairs, and a small bench. There was also a patio with two outdoor couches and a fire pit. The backyard was large enough to fit a pool, with a diving board. Behind the pool was an acre of land with beautifully cut grass. When Mom came home from work everyday she would stand on the deck and invision herself and her husband playing with their kids in the pool. It didn’t turn out as great as she thought. *** We saw him, but he didn’t see us. I was only ten, so I didn’t really understand what was happening, but my mom did. She couldn’t believe her eyes, and had no idea what she was going to do. Mom was proud of her perfect family, and didn’t want to ruin it.
How should I decorate my guest bedroom? It is a fairly small room. I want it to look welcoming but stylish and if there is something I can do to make the room seem larger that would be great. I will be painting the walls and buying new bedding and decor. Any ideas are much appreciated. Pictures of examples are great too! Thanks :)
help me pick new rooms? okay well over the span of 3 hours i've gone from angry to sad to some what happy. i've found out i'm moving a town over. i was upset but i figured, why mope because there's nothing i can do about it so i might as well make the best of it. so my parents are basically bribing me to go. they said i get my choice of bedroom and nursery. and the interior decorator my mom is hiring will decorate my room and the baby's room. i'm showing you pictures of the new rooms so you can help me decide which rooms. i did not take these pictures myself. these are pictures i got off the riverside realty website. i'm not taking any credit for these pictures. i'm uploading them to my own photo bucket. this is because i really don't want to hear people accuse me of being a spoiled brat when they see the house, like most people tend to do. and i'm doing it for privacy reasons because i don't want people on here to know where i live. there are 4 bedrooms, not including the master bedroom. my parents have already decided the smallest will be the guest bedroom so i won't bother uploading the picture of it. each bedroom has it's own bathroom and walk in closet. they're basically the same except for set up and location. i'm uploading pictures of 3 rooms. one for me, one for my baby, and the other will most likely be another guest bedroom. bedroom 1: http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab89/leahxolovee/bed9.jpg i dont't really like this one because o the random sink in it i think i want that one to be the guest bedroom bedroom 2: http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab89/leahxolovee/bed1.jpg this one is nice looking. it overlooks the pool, pool house, and rest of the backyard. bedroom 3: http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab89/leahxolovee/bed2.jpg this bedroom is nice looking too. this also overlooks the pool, pool house, and the rest of the backyard. all of the bedrooms are in the same wing so i'd have easy access to my son's room. even though i usually make him sleep in the spare crib in my bedroom. so which room should i choose? and which should be the nursery for the baby? any ideas for colors, themes, other decorations? first answer- that's actually a pretty good idea i didn't even think of that! and i think i worded the questions poorly i need help choosing which should be my own bedroom AND choosing a different room to be the baby's nursery. Julie L - do you mean the bedrooms are big? or the house? how did you see the house? and it's okay, you're not being rude. and idk why there's a sink there. haha it's weird because there's a sink in the bathroom about a foot away... Katrina: yeah it's a suburb. what state are you in? Eva - i'm choosing new colors for the rooms anyway. because i'm not a big fan of the blue either =]
hall bathroom colors? do i coordinate my hall bathroom with the family room colors since it's the "public" bathroom or with the guest bedroom since it's officially the "guest" bath?? the family room is a large airy open space decorated in warm fall colors but I have my heart set on a black and white country looking guest room Thanks!!
I'm full of questions today :)? What do you think, I live in a 2 bedroom 1 1/2 bath house. We weren't really sure which room was the master bedroom so we chose the one with the biggest closet right next to the full size bathroom. The second bedroom has a 1/2 bath in it [everything but a shower/tub] this second bedroom was our guest bedroom but now it's our nursery :) I'm wondering if I should decorate the bathroom with kid stuff, like pink princess things? Or should I leave it as is. Right now it's a dark red and we have flower pictures, flower decorations, and flower candles in there along with dark red bath mats and towels. My husband said it's up to me if I want to change it, but I'm wondering if I should or shouldn't... We'll be moving in a year into a 4 bedroom we're having built but I was just wondering what other parents thought...
Julie Walsh - Scam Apartment - Boston? Hello, Thanks for taking the time to look at my property. I lived in this Condo(2 Bedrooms/2 Baths) for over 5 years and loved every day of it.The prime location can't be beat, and the garaged parking is an amenity sure to be appreciated by anyone who has lived in a big city. Harcourt Street is located just off the busy streets of Newbury and Boylston. You have the convenience of being just two blocks away, without the inconvenience of double parked cars and countless pedestrians. Harcourt is a small, quaint neighborhood street nestled behind the Copley Square Marriott and the Colonade hotel. In less than a block you are at the entrance of the Prudential Center and Copley Square Mall. One more block and you are at Newbury and Boylston Streets. With countless retail from big names to small boutiques, the Back Bay has it all. The cities finest restaurants are within walking distance, Fenway Park is a mile away, and the entrance to the Mass Pike and I-93 are within blocks of this condo. The condo is fully furnished with all necessary amenities(exactly like in the pics),the unit is equipped with recessed lighting, central air and heat, the condo come with two parking spots,a storage unit where you can deposit my furniture (if you don't like it and you want use your furniture) ,there is also a linen closet, and most importantly, a new front loading stacked washer and drier...Pets allowed. The kitchen eating area is a large piece of granite that serves as counter space in the kitchen, and as the table in the Living Room side. The counter seats 4 comfortably. The entertainment center is a beautiful credenza that is topped with a brand new 55' High-Definition lcd tv. The stereo acts as the 5 speaker surround sound for the tv, the radio and cd player. The stereo also is a dvd player and is capable of having an i pod plugged right into a usb port. The Master Bedroom is large with high ceilings, has two windows, a walk-in closet and it has it's own bathroom. The room has a large, very comfortable Cali-King bed. There are several dressers with an ample amount of drawers. The room also has a desk with several drawers and a file cabinet. The walls are decorated with nice artwork and floating shelves. The bathroom has a large, tiled shower stall behind a glass door. The vanity is covered with a beautiful piece of granite and between the vanity, shelves and medicine cabinet, there is plenty of space for toiletries. The Guest Bedroom is actually larger than the Master. It has high ceilings, hardwood floors and by being a corner unit, it has 10 large windows. The space below is a commercial unit that has several offices for financial planners and a internet software company. This is great because after 5pm and on weekends, there is nobody below my unit. The building is only 5 stories high. The condominium is two buildings connected by a glass atrium in the middle. There is an elevator and staircase that goes from the lobby, to the garage, and all the way to the top. The elevator takes you to the garage, where my unit has two deeded parking spaces and some shelves and closet space that can be used as storage and can be locked (the condo also come with a storage unit so you'll have space to deposit all my furniture). The building is located on the boarder of the Back Bay and the South End. As I mentioned, the shops and restaurants are just a block away. To the right of the condo is the South West corridor. This corridor goes from the Back Bay T-station on Dartmouth Street, all the way to Mass Ave. This corridor is lined with parks, a children's playground, a dog park, tennis and basketball courts. It's a beautiful place to walk the dog, take a jog, or take the kids to the swings. The area is clean, safe and beautifully manicured with trees and flowers.I've moved to United Kingdom with my job (i am a construction engineer) and decided to rent it because the rent is is very expensive here. The price is so low because I'm here and is very hard to find a tenant.I can rent you the condo for max. 6 years .I really want to find a good and responsible tenant for it, and I hope that you can send me some personal information about yourself. The rent of the condo for 1 month is $1200 including all utilities(water, electricity, Internet, cable, parking, air conditioning, fireplace, dishwasher, garbage) and I want to receive the money monthly in my bank account. You can move in the condo in the same day when you receive the keys. The only problem is that I`m the onl
Spouses - could I have your help on this one? So when I first met my husband, his house was a true bachelor. Well, even post-wedding that didn't change. We didn't have the money or time. Now we're in our own house, and we agreed that the sub-basement is his area and the rest is mine to decorate (FINALLY no basketball pictures above the bed). That means that half of the sub-basement is an area for storage and the rest is for his man cave. This past year, we’ve had some major water and mold issues that the old owners neglected as well as bug issues. We’re doing a major overhaul of the basement in a few weeks. However, I don’t know how to discuss the changes I want to make to my husband’s “man cave” without being overbearing. He loves beer and sports, and that’s fine. The original concept was for him to have a place (the man cave) to display his 135 empty bottles of beer he’s collected over the last 10 years and watch TV. We haven’t hooked the TV up to a satellite dish, I’ve never seen him go down there for more than laundry or a glass from the bar, and quite honestly, the beer bottles are harboring all sorts of bugs. That being said, I’m torn as to what to do. This major overhaul is major. We’re painting the walls, rearranging everything, installing new carpet, etc. This is a chance to really slim down our storage (he’s a bit of a pack rat) and get things going in the right direction. On one hand, that means suggesting he slim down his beer bottle collection (!), clean them with Clorox (!) and move them from one side of the room to the other. It also means getting rid of a malfunctioning TV and trashy TV stand (okay, so I’m bias). On the other hand, this is his domain. I don’t want to play nag if I don’t have to. If he actually used the place, I don’t think this would be an issue. Instead of going down there, he just uses our family room to watch TV and drink beer. He doesn’t really have any friends that come over, but those that do just stay in the family room. After all of this, the question: am I being a complete nag if I request that we slim down the clutter and make the area look like a pseudo bedroom (obviously not possible as a true bedroom requires a window that can be opened)? Or should I just leave it, accept the clutter, and let it go? I should say I’m not trying to change HIM. I embrace the sports and beer (within reason, of course – he’s not an alcoholic by any means). I just want to clear out the clutter so we could potentially use the room as a guest bedroom if we needed to or just plain walk through the room (the way we have it set up now is that you wade through the defunct storage area to reach the bar/man cave area). You guys are giving me WONDERFUL ideals - thanks! I'm super hormonal right now, and blah. I try to avoid the nag and witch in me if possible.
Please constructively criticize this piece.? Her amber brown eyes scanned the room in front of her. They were still there, asleep. It hadn’t been some crazy dream she’d had. She, Halle Cherise, and her best friend Rachelle Kennebeck had really taken in three complete strangers. And it seemed that they had been through torture. The girl had a broken wrist and one of the guys had a broken leg. The other man had deep lashes all over him that the hospital couldn’t get to stop bleeding for a half an hour. Their wounds told the story, only it felt incomplete. Halle walked back out through the hallway and into the living room that was open to the dining room and kitchen. Smells of food overwhelmed her as she sat in a leather chair, her eyes gazing into the fireplace that was ablaze. “Something wrong, Hal?” Rachelle asked, pulling her thick, gently curly chestnut hair into a pony-tail. “Nothing. Just thinking about last night.” Halle replied, looking over at Rachelle. “What are you making oatmeal for? You hate it.” Rachelle turned and looked at her friend and shrugged, “I know, but I thought the other three would. Plus, we had it in the cupboard…” her sentence trailed off as her keen brown eyes glazed over. “Do you want any help?” Halle asked, beginning to stand up. Rachelle waved her down. “It’s oatmeal. I think I can do it without burning down the house.” she smiled at her friend. Halle sat back in the chair and looked around. The house felt different. It wasn’t the same maroon walls with umber accents like it had been the day before. The pictures on the marble mantle piece didn’t even sit the same anymore. It unsettled Halle to know that, because of these people, she felt their whole world changing at an unyielding pace. That because of the three people laying in the guest bedroom her life would never be the same. Rachelle’s life was never going to be the same. Neither of them would see through the same eyes ever again. Halle knew that what she and Rachelle had done the night before was a positive, but an unforgettable event to redirect their fates. Halle found her reverie interrupted by the alarm of the microwave, blaring that the food inside was cooked. Rachelle opened it and closed it again, placing the hot, ceramic bowls onto the counters and stirred them. All the while she was bouncing to the music playing through her ear buds. Halle sighed, wondering how her best friend could still be dancing around while she felt so… melancholy about what was taking place. “Halle?” “Rachelle?” she moved her gaze to meet her friend’s quickly. “Do you think you could go see if the rescued are up yet? If the aren’t, it’s okay, but the doctor told us that they shouldn’t sleep through meals. And breakfast is ready if they are up.” “Sure. I’ll be right back then, don’t get into trouble.” Halle winked and got up from her comfortable chair. Tyler opened his eyes, finding himself in a warm bed, underneath a mint-green, thick comforter. He rubbed his eyes of sleep and tried to get out of bed. Here he noticed that his leg was bound in a cast, having obviously been broken in the fight the night before. The fight the night before… He thought to himself, now reaching for his gun. It lay on the bedside table, unloaded. The clips were precariously leaning on the edge of the table, ready to fall at any moment. He looked around, admiring the work that had definitely gone into the room he and his friends occupied. He liked the compliments of greens and wheat colors, along with the subtle blues in the comforters and shams. It was simplistically beautiful, and it made him smile. And enemy wouldn’t put his gun next to him, wouldn’t put his leg in a cast, wouldn’t put him in a nicely furnished and decorated room. The enemy plainly wouldn’t leave him and his friends alive. So, for now, he felt safe.
Vintage redecorating? I am 15 turning 16 soon and my dream is to become a decorator, because i love homes and decorations and making things look beautiful. Our back guest bedroom was recently remodeled and will now be a "hangout" room for my friends and I, complete with a flat screen TV and pull out couch. It's a fairly small room but I had high hopes that maybe we could decorate the room around a retro gumball machine that we own that I planned on putting back there. Henceforth..I wanted it retro. But my mother doesn't want it to look vintage and I don't think she understands exactly what I want with my idea. I've looked into it and vintage stuff is cheap enough yet she won't budge. How can i convince her? Thank you :)
How should a single 22 year old man decorate his room? My roommate just broke up with his girlfriend and he doesn't want that room anymore. So I just got the master bedroom. I have a cherry wood sleigh bed and matching dresser. Besides that, I don't have anything else. Could you help give me ideas on how I could make it an inviting place for guests who might be in it.
My 7 years old wakes up at night several times and comes to my room to wak me up.? We have been trying to deal with this problem for months but I am starting to lose patience and I am sleep deprived. Nothing seems to work. She used to sleep in our bed, but then in our room in her own bed, then in her own room. We tried with a night light or without any light at all. We have a bedtime routine, reading bedtime stories, soft music, decorating her room, new blanket, new cuddly soft toy etc. We have been persistant and consistant, but things seem to get worse. When she is awake she seems to be content, loves school, I don't know what to do? Some potential problems might be, that my husband travels a lot and he is often a way for 10 days at a time or more, and I sleep in the guest room, next to her room, since the family bedroom is on a different floor.
I need help decorating/remodeling my bathroom? My home is a 1035 square foot 2 BR 2 bath condo. My style is pretty traditional. My main bathroom is off the hall, one door away from the living room and would serve the second bedroom (although I currently use that bedroom as a media room) and as a powder room for visitors (not overnight guests). It is a full bath 5' x 8' with no windows. The tub is along the 5' east wall leaving 5 x 5. The entrance door is on the 5' west wall almost all the way to the south. Along the north wall from the west corner is a 36 inch vanity (black with a faux marble one piece sink and top - white with a slight grey cast) then the stool sits between the vanity and the tub. Above the vanity is a 22x28 inch mirror with a plain black frame. It is hung with the long sides on the verticle. I need to tile the floor and tile around the tub. I want to keep the vanity and the white sink, stool and tub. When I redo the tub area I could convert it to a tub/shower but am not sure it's necessary. I have a light fixture box directly above the vanity mirror and wonder what I should do for lighting. I am willing to move the electrical box(es). I want advice on floor tile type, size and color and the tub surround. Also with the tub surround if I add a shower how high should I take the tile? If I add a shower should I get a shower door or curtains? How high if I don't add the shower? I could also use advice on paint color. All trim throughout the condo is white. The living room and hall are a blue green (it's close to Sherman Williams 6757 Tame Teal - http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/ ). The kitchen (farther away) is chamois. I like the chamois more than the blue/green. The hall, living room and kitchen floors are Pergo natural maple. Thanks!
Birthday Celebration Ideas for Boyfriend? Im having a birthday party for my boyfriend. He'll be turning 16 years old and I'll be able to toss a party at my house for him. I already have decorated the guest bedroom (where he'll be staying for the weekend) with balloons and raffia and such. I'll be baking him a pie because he'd prefer that rather than a cake. I also bought him an anime wallscroll and some tabs to put in his Bible etc that I know he'll enjoy. But it isnt presents that Im wanting ideas for- it's fun party ideas. It will mainly just be me and him since my parents will only be around for the pie and then they'll go away to watch TV and do their own thing. Ive thought of several games I think he'll enjoy like a clue game with notes that he has to follow til he can find a surprise. A yarn game where he has to follow the yarn til he can find his other surprise. and "pin the tale on the donkey" where I'll spin him around with a blindfold but he'll try to find me and give me a kiss rather than a tail on a donkey. btw. Im 18 but I dont have a car to get around in so I cant go anywhere to get anything except for today when my parents go to Walmart- I can pick up extra things for the party there which I need to pick up some plates and napkins and the things to make the pie with. Im mainly looking for ideas that I can create. I love creating things and it isnt a challenge for me to make things since Im very much into art and I plan on becoming an art teacher. I would love any and all suggestions! Thank you everyone very much! ^_^
Can you help me decorate this room??? I'm putting together a guest bedroom and need color suggestions for the paint/walls, area rug, and bedding. The woods in the pieces are a bit dark, so I want to brighten it up. The existing wood floor is a medium brown, not too dark or light. I am not afraid of bright colors, but like darker colors as well. Below are pics of the main pieces I have. All suggestions will be very welcome! Thanks. http://www.americanironbeds.com/wesabeds/bedfulls/1345flpg.html http://www.cooperclassics.com/products.cfm?cID=22&item=234 http://www.shadesoflight.com/MiroredChest/PageMirrired_Furniture/Lingerie-Mirrored-Chest/Page_1/XU7009.html http://www.overstock.com/Worldstock/leather-diamonds-Mirror-Peru/2300820/product.html?review
Decorating clash! Boyfriend wants huge standees!? I want to make our living room presentable to guests, nice and neat with plenty of room to stretch out. But my boyfriend who lives with me. (Its both our apartment), thinks it would be awesome to take the standees home from work (he works at GameStop) and configure them in our little living room. We now have a Gundam poster, a Final Fantasy poster, a huge Mass Effect Standee for the release blocking the couch from half the tv (although he rarely uses the couch anyway) and another Lost Odyssey standee. Along with tons of RockBand equipment, there's no room anymore! but he refuses to put any of it in the bedroom, get rid of anything, or redecorate with smaller items. (he's very alpha, bullheaded, only child!) But I love him anyway... *sigh* How can we compromise??? Dr. Death you are awesome!!!! and Halo, yes! Thankyou!

How much would this house be worth? The house is in an upper class area. It's in a cottage style, but is a large house. Large garden. There's an outbuilding stretching up the length of the garden - which is separated into three sections... an architectural/outdoor office room, a workshop and an unused store room. There's also a double garage. A conservatory. A utility room. Large kitchen. Large dining room. Living room. And large lounge. Spacious hallway. Downstairs toilet. Driveway with room for upto 4 cars. 3 double guest rooms. Large office/possibility for a 4th double guest room. Master bedroom with en suite. Bathroom and separate toilet. WC. Period features. Well decorated in classic style. How much would it cost roughly? Are there any websites I can use to find out how much it may be worth?
My husband wants my parents to stay in a hotel.? We live in a 3 bedroom home. Currently, one room is a guest room, and the other is an office. My husband is estranged from his entire family, so the only family we have is my parents, and we are very close. (They live 15 hours away and can only visit a couple times per year, they stay for about a week). My husband & I just announced to my parents that we are expecting our first child. In front of everyone, my husband said, "Oh, well you can keep the guest room & knock yourselves out decorating it, and we will combine the office w/ a nursery." Voila, my mom & I went out and bought a bunch of things for the guest room. Fast forward to a couple weeks later, and my husband announces he has had a change of heart - the guest room is over, it will be a nursery and he "needs" his own office (an entire room to pay bills in 1 hour a week. We have a built-in desk in our kitchen that he refuses to use). He is not worried about making them feel unwelcome and says he'll put them in a hotel when they come. (Around here, it's $100/nite, we can't afford that). I'm very frustrated, I feel kicked in the gut and like the only people who will even care to be involved in our child's life are going to be made to feel unwelcome. I know plenty of people who have combined office/nursery. I think he's being ridiculous. He will not budge. Am I being unreasonable? Is he? Is this normal from a man's point of view? Or, if you are a parent, how would it make you feel if your son-in-law offered to pay for your hotel room instead of staying w/ them? What do you suggest? (Seems dumb but this is a huge source of tension around here on his part - I am pregnant & hormonal and don't need the stress he's causing me over something so dumb). Thanks.
What decor theme could I use with my dark purple velvet drapes? I have dark purple velvet drapes with a layer of cream brocade sheers underneath in my living room. I want a sophisticated look. But what theme would be good and what other colors should I use? I also have a dark chocolate brown leather sofa sectional. My Kitchen and Dining are both Tuscan Wine Country so I do not want to go with that theme again. I was thinking a medieval theme, victorian, country cottage, or adding green and going nature with tree pictures. But I am just not sure. I want a WOW room with drama that no one has seen before. I am not afraid of color. I am a daring person when it comes to decorating. I like all different types of themes(my bedroom is nautical, my guest bath is cabin, daughters room is garden overdone, other daughters is tropical, media room is um well dark grey and black with bright red accents). But I am ready to go over the top. Thanks for the help!
I'm begining to write this, any constructive criticism? What was there to see? A dim light surrounded the lonely man at the table. With the green beans untouched, he stared at the center piece with the fork in his hand, pondering what he would do for another kiss. It was quiet. The electric sound of the refrigerator could be heard throughout the house. He slowly tried some of the greens, but he was too week to eat. A week it’s been since his love passed. He gave his life for her, but it didn’t make her immortal. He looked up and gazed through the cracks of the blinds, but it was dark. Getting up, not knowing where he was going, he tried to find the next best thing in the house. As he met the hallway, he looked down to the end where the picture of the palm tree waits for him. “Hey Luke, can you hang this picture up?” “Yeah, I was already gonna do it anyway. You know how good I am at this.” It became quite frequent; the voices of the past ringing through his mind. He slowly walked down the hall with his finger tips against the wall. The first room was the guest room, but it was decorated with pictures of the lovely couple. The hallway light reflected off the chrome frame. “One of my favorites” he whispered. Time passed by so quickly on that summer day at the beach. “Ok, now, spin her around,” the photographer said. The lively images, faded into the still picture of two distant people loving each other on the shoreline. The night went on like every other night. The sound of sitcom laughter and infomercials marched on and on, but it was faint and pointless and sure did not catch his eye. He was too focused on the ceiling fan. Around it went; never stopping. He never liked to wipe his tears. He just figured that more would fall soon enough. “I think we need to go to Olive Garden tonight” Brittany said with a smile. “Oh, really?” “Yeah, I want some of their Alfredo. Em…” “Ok, only if we can get the shrimp Alfred – that’s the good stuff.” “I don’t like shrimp.” “You like shrimp.” “Yeah, but not on my Alfredo” “Ok, well we just won’t split a meal tonight. How ‘bout that?” “No, I like to split because it’s so much cheaper, and I can never eat all of that. I’ll just…I’ll just get a salad.” “No, no. We’ll split the Alfredo, I don’t need the shrimp.” “You sure? You don’t mind?” “Nah, it’s alright. I just want you to be happy anyway. Who gives a crap about shrimp? Haha.” She smiled at his words and said, “Aw…I love you Babe.” “Love you too Babe” he said, satisfied with her smile. Then he mumbled, “What do you want for breakfast?” She didn’t say anything. “Babe, what do you want for breakfast?” He came to his senses and opened his eyes to the empty space in the bed. He took in a deep breath, and looked out the bedroom window where the sun had been creeping in. Then he wept. His pillow was soaked in the tears, and eventually his eyes became dry. “Britt, I had a bad dream last night.” “What was it about babe” she asked as she was turning the shower on. “I dreamed that you died, and I was trying to live my life, but I…I couldn’t even live. It was horrible, but then I woke up and saw you. That’s why I hugged you last night.” “I know I remember…” “You do?” “Yeah, I was awake.” “Oh, ok. I thought I woke you up. I felt bad.” He remembered all the dreams he use to have of losing her. He was so afraid of it. Now, here he was, dreaming of having her and waking up to her gone. Lion and Lamb - I would but I have no way of contacting you lol.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!? So i am a thirteen y/o female and my bedroom is upstairs. across the hall of my room is a spare room that nobody in my family is really using. it used to be my sisters but she moved to our basement so now all it has in it is a (never used) exercise bike and ab lounge and i am wanting my parents to let me have the room to use as a loft thing. they wanted it as an extra guest room but they are considering my idea. my bedroom has a huge desk w/ printer stand and top part, a 6 drawer dresser, a twin bed, and two night stands. i would like to put the desk and a chair in there w/ a nice lamp. i want it to be a place i can go do w/e i want and relax. i need help w/ everything about this room. any helpful suggestions on what to put in it, colors, how to decorate and stuff like that would be great. Oh by the way i don't think my parents will put a TON of money into this project so any do it yourself projects for decorating or anything else would be great. Thanks!!!
Help!!!!!

Problems with roomate..already!!! Please read & help a sister out!? I'm totally screwed. I lived w/my boyfriend for over 2 years, and then he got a job where he travels during the week & is gone..but comes home on the weekend. So I decided instead of living alone in me and my bfs apartment all week by myself, I'd get an apartment with a close friend. She was living w/her parents @ the time and had to drive 35 minutes to get to work- so it was a great idea. So we got a sweet place (she found it), but we both signed the lease and both split security deposit & first months rent. So it's both of ours, right? Wrong. Although she said I can "do whatever I want" to the apartment (i.e. decorating, etc) she did it before I could even get to it. Almost everything in the apartment is hers, minus what is in my bedroom. On top of that, her boyfriend is pretty much living there as well. She is very anal and particular with things & where she wants them.. so I try not to step on her toes. I am always making sure to clean up after myself, and just basically trying to piss anyone off- just to keep the peace. We have only been living together *13* days, and it's becoming a nightmare. Her bf is big into playing darts, so they both put a big dartboard up on the wall in the living room with black tape on the floor so they know how far away to stand. All I can think is if my bf came and did that..she would be pissed off. Also, I go grocery shopping for us all, and put everything away except the bread- which was sitting on the counter... and she *itches about that! She complains about that, but her bf leaves beer bottles around the sink, and towels on the floor in the bathroom. He has slept there every night since we moved in, and is there all day while we're at work.. it's a pain in the @ss! Once again, all I can think of is how she would tell me my boyfriend needs to go if it was him staying there. I feel like I am a guest in her apartment and I effing hate it!!!!!! I have talked to her a few times about things. She tells me.. It's both of our apartment..do what you want. Or apologizes at me for *itching to me about something and says she's just stressed out and will try to watch what she says.. but it just keeps happening. Am I being too sensitive? I feel like I am walking on eggshells constantly just to please her, and to keep things positive in our apartment.. but it's just not working. It also seems like she's trying to take my friends over. I've known this one girl for a while & been friends w/her, and my roommate meets her..and suddenly their going running together and my roommate is talking about how she and my other friend have been texting all day.. it's like, umm ok? You haven't even known her a month..haha. But that's not even what I care about. Also the fact that she takes on the personality of her boyfriends is really starting to show me how weak her character really is. Plus the fact she is constantly stressed out for no reason.. she makes the stress herself and takes it out on people. She's the kind of person that if there is 2 dishes in the sink for more than 10 minutes..all is wrong w/the world. Ughhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Any help?!?!?! What can/should I do? Am I overthinking it?
Redecorating SD's room? I have a 7yr old SD that is currently only residing with us 10 weeks out of the year. We travel every other weekend 7 hrs one way to spend 48 hrs with her sometimes less. She has her own room here which was decorated with dora and mickey mouse when she was 4-5 yrs of age. When she was with us this summer she didnt want the mickey mouse stuff. Ive told my husband I'd like to redo her room for her but not in cartoon characters as she will more then likely outgrow it before she ever sees it. My husband tells me to redo her room anyway I want to because its "my home" I also view this as her home too. Would it be wrong of me to redo her room in a fashion that will last a few yrs but is still kid friendly and guest friendly ( her room is also the "guest room" when we have company. Im not talking making it look "grown up" like my own bedroom but I am wanting to make it not so "childish" I know that I can do it but why do I feel so guilty wanting to? Amber when she was 4-5 we did ask her what she wanted in her room which is why it was mickey and dora. Not to mention PINK walls and PINK carpet and I was against it but her father isnt willing to tell her no. I did ask her when she was here and she said "bratz dolls" I dont think so she'll outgrow it to soon. My daughter has butterflies and dragonflies in her room and its cute she wont outgrow it to soon many of my friends and our visitors comment on how nice it looks This will be my last edit. When we had the house built (its 2 yrs old) and we were decorating her room and I was against the pink everything she told her biological mother that I wanted to redo her room after I saw the pink walls-carpet and her biological mother (husbands ex gf) told my SD its because I was trying to push her out of her dad's life by changing her room. Maybe this is why Id feel guilty about it even though thats NOT the case at all.
What are some tips for keeping my cats away from the Christmas tree? I have three cats and am determined to put up my Christmas tree this year (last year my ex didn't let me because he was afraid the cats would knock it over). It is only a small tree (like three feet) that I usually put on my side table. I have some cute decorations and I love Christmas, but I don't want to clean up my ornaments every single day!! For you guys that deal with this all the time (I have only had cats for 2 years, and the first year I got my kitty in January so the tree was already down), how do you keep your cat away from the tree? I was thinking of putting it in my bedroom, so I could close the door when I'm not here, but then my friends and guests wouldn't see it. What if I attach it to the wall so that it won't be knocked over? I need your thoughts and tips, because like I said I love decorating but I don't want the cats knocking things over and eating ornaments!! Okay, WOW! I was not expecting so many answers. Here is my plan: 1. Use fishing line to secure to the wall. 2. Put the tree out undecorated for a few days to get the cats used to it. 3. Not use glass ornaments. Use things that are cat-safe, in case they are stolen when I'm out. 4. Try motion sensor ornaments to startle. 5. Use the spray or some sort of scent they don't like near the tree. And no, I don't have the tree up yet for whoever asked me that. I'm just anticipating putting it up in a few weeks and needed to have a plan of attack. I know they will be curious and I don't really care about that, I'm used to it by now. I expect them to play with things. I just wanted to keep them safe and still be able to have a pretty tree. Thanks for all the great answers (with the exception of a few who advised getting rid of the cats... ) Also, I forget who sent the link with pics of her tree and cats and dog, but it was hilarious! Reminded me how cute and fun this could be...
Need ideas for black and white bridal shower!? I am the maid of honor in my best friends wedding and will be throwing her a shower in September. It will be mostly for her girlfriends, since she will be having two other showers this summer, one for couples and the other thrown by her mom's best friends. I have already decided to do a black/white theme to go along with the wedding colors, so all the guests will wear black and white and I'll decorate the house in it. What I really need advice on is the gifts! Should I go ahead and just do gifts from the registry, even though she's having two other showers? I was thinking maybe "gifts for the bedroom" might be fun, as it will mostly be girls in their 20s. We could give pajamas, robes, lingerie, massage items, things like that. Do you think that would work? Any good game ideas will also be appreciated! I've already asked the bride about a black and white theme, and she liked it. It will be very elegant and really suite her, so I'm not concerned about the colors. And since everyone owns something black or white, I'm not concerned about that either. What I want advice on is the gifts, not the color scheme. That is already settled. I've actually considered the "adult" party. A good friend of ours throws them, and I think it would be a blast, I just need to talk to the brides mom and get her input. I know all our friends would love it, just want to make sure it's ok with the moms.
how is the first chapter of my book? the storyline doesnt need to be clear for this chapter, so i wont write it, just tell me if its ok sounding... Chapter One: The Darlingtons Beams of fading sunlight flooded the ballroom through the stained glass windows, painting a million colours onto the polished wooden floor and intricately decorated walls. The spectacular marble pillars dotted the room, around which dainty fairy lights were wrapped, like ivy climbing up tree trunks. Ornate music stands stood in one corner of the room, the wooden chairs behind them arranged to face a larger stand in front. Sienna could picture the musicians playing a quaint tune, the vast ballroom filled with hundreds of elegantly dressed ladies and gentlemen, politely laughing and chatting amongst themselves, sipping champagne. As Sienna stood in the double doorway, lost in her imagination, her mother tip-toed up behind her, but not so quietly as she would have wished due to the three-inch heel attached to her shoes. Sienna’s vision vanished, to be replaced by her mother’s fingers, clamped to her eyes, giving an eerie dark red glow. “I’ve got a surprise for you!” shrieked Mrs Darlington, “Come on, darling!” While still holding her hands to her daughter’s eyes, Mrs Darlington led Sienna away from the ballroom, up the many flights of stairs and into Sienna’s bedroom. Sienna’s bedroom was often where she escaped to, although relatively small compared to the other rooms in the manor; it was her room to call her own, where she could let her imagination run riot. It was a pretty room, with one large window which put into relief the pastel colours and floral wallpaper. From the four-poster bed hung soft light curtains which matched the window drapes, which half hid from view the window seat, where books lay half read and cushions dimpled from being sat on. Upon an old-fashioned dressing table painted in a soft pastel yellow, stood little ornate bottles of perfume, a tarnished silver hand mirror and sitting at the other end of the table, a delicately painted china doll dressed in a pale pink gown, which Sienna had owned since her father gave it to her when she was four. Her mother had often threatened to throw it away, her excuse being that a seventeen year old lady should not be in possession of such childish things. Mrs Darlington finally took away her hands from her daughter’s eyes, enabling Sienna to see a carefully wrapped, rather large box sitting upon the bed covers. Sienna sat on the edge of the bed and started to untie the satin bow, lifting the lid up in order to gaze upon what was inside. Her fingers ran along the seams, her eyes focussing on the embroidery. “It’s a dress? Would it by any chance be for the ball tonight?” she enquired. “Why, yes, of course darling! I can’t let my only child turn up in rags, can I? Besides, its much more elegant than that shapeless old thing you normally clothe yourself in! Imagine the shame…” Mrs Darlington trailed off, turning her back to her daughter and marching out of the room. Sienna closed the door behind her mother and flung her self onto the bed, sighing. Sienna was not a great fan of dressing up, she much preferred wandering the acres of grounds in her gingham day dress, normally complete with grass stains and muck. She slowly made her way to the bathroom; she was quite sure her mother would never forgive her if she appeared at the ball with dirty fingernails and stained elbows. She eased herself into a warm bath that Nana had run for her, waving her fingers back and forth in the water, letting rose-scented bubbles rise from the surface, then to only to disappear with a faint popping noise. This calm often led Sienna into a deep spell of her imagination, but Sienna knew she must not indulge in it, as there was little time to dawdle before the guests would start arriving. As Sienna dried her deep red hair with a towel, she stared into the large mirror which hung above the sink, made foggy with the steam and humidity from her bath. She wiped a circle clear with her palm and focussed upon her face. She could not see the reason for wearing as much powder as her mother does, only to cover the dainty freckles that sprinkled her milky white skin. Sienna gazed into her own eyes, an icy grey streaked with an equally icy blue, the only thing she had inherited from her father, apart from that, she was nearly identical to her mother, only younger. Sienna skipped back to her bedroom and started to dress herself in her mother’s gift. It was much less comfortable than it looked, not that it looked that to start with. The boning of the corset dug into her ribs, the flowing skirt fell down to the floor, Sienna knowing that she will trip over the hem soon enough. Somewhere in her lower back, the skin started to itch, but Sienna could not possibly reach it through the layers of satin and velvet. Through all her discomfort, she put on her delicate shoes in the same blue as her dress. She cast a glance back to the box lying on her bed, at the bottom was an ornate mask, something which Sienna liked to think was from Venice, its gold decoration shining against the creamy white of the large feather attached to one corner. She held it up against her face and sighed, her mother was always throwing parties, but Sienna knew that in Mrs Darlington’s upkeep to be fashionable, she must be holding a masquerade party. Sienna placed it over her eyes, the grey-blue burning through; she brushed her hair and made her way downstairs, just as several guests started to appear, being greeted by loud squeals from her mother. btw, im just doing it for fun and im16
HELP! What is your opinion of my landlord's behavior? I have a strange little landlord, from whom i rent a small one bedroom attic apartment on the third floor of a house. I have a decent sized bedroom (with out a real closet), a super duper small bathroom (barely big enough to navigate in, especially with the slanted ceiling, with no bath-just a small walk-in shower), & a kitchen. The kitchen is pretty small. I have a sink (it is hard to wash dishes with the slanted ceiling), a super small counter (which is hard to use because of the slanted ceiling), and a fridge. I created & decorated my own cabinets & for dishes, and use a bookshelf for a pantry. I have a small dining table in there as well. I went into detail as of the size for the last part of the question at the end. My point thus far is that the place is already pretty tight in space, but i make it work. The reason i had justified it so far is, that, like i said, the bedroom is a decent size, the rent is pretty cheap, and i have hardly any sort of bug problems (which is very important to me). My problem is my landlord. He has been a really nice guy, though kind of weird. When i first looked at this place, i told him, that if i move here, you can't be dropping by all the time, and knocking on my door . I rent from you-that's it. You are not my dad, boss, or friend. The last place i lived in, he landlord dropped by a lot, sometimes entering with his own key, if i didn't answer the door or phone. And he had no reason. I payed my rent on time & everything. He was crazy. So i made sure my current landlord knew that this type of behavior was purely unacceptable, & illegal from the start, before i agreed. Okay, so he is really friendly with me. Just the other day, he said i am gorgeous when i answered the door, and started blushing hardcore. That alone does not bother me. But ever since i move here over a year ago, he is always "working on something" right outside my door. So he constantly makes noise, but that doesn't bother me as much as the fact that he is constantly right outside my door! And he justifies it because of his "projects" that NEVER STOP! Once one is done, it is time for ANOTHER! and ANOTHER! So, i have been thinking, great! now he has done everything that he can do! Now he will hang out at his house or some one else's house, & i will have privacy....But NO-the plot thickens. Now, he wants to TEAR down part of my very small apartment to create an "office" for himself. An "OFFICE"???? It would be a very small office, and what would he do there? I can picture him now, sitting at his little desk, waiting for his cell to ring. This is ridiculous. He wants to sit right outside my door, and have a permanent excuse to be near me. Aye yie yie. Why does he want an office on the third floor of an attic next to a tenant??? This is unacceptable. This means, practically every time i walk out my door i could see him. No privacy. If i have guests over, we will walk by my little landlord and make introductions. He will be able to hear us talk through the thin walls. What if i get a boyfriend/husband & want to have wild, hot sex... he will hear us having orgasms. Is this not inappropriate/strange? When i see him he keeps telling me about his plan, so i avoid him. He calls, knocks on the door-you name it. The other day, I answered my door in my towel & hair dye in my hair, & he just walks in & starts talking about his plan. I had to tell him, look this is not a good time. I have told him, that it would not work because, as it it i am tight on space. Then he says, he would create storage OUTSIDE my apartment. I don't need storage - i need living space. i don't want to have to walk out of my apartment by his little office every time i make something to eat by grabbing food & a dish to eat on. He has already started the construction on his office (it is very noisy by the way), but i am avoiding him because he doesn't listen. I am also thinking, what will it be like when he tears open my apartment? My walls will be open? This is crazy. I know there has to be a law against this? Has anyone had an experience like this or happen to know anything about this that might help me? I am planning on moving but can not afford to at the very second. One other weird thing about this landlord is that sometimes if i don't answer the door he just walks in to access the water heater. Last time, fortunately i had the bedroom door closed, but what if i was naked or in the shower or something else personal?? I have a problem with my landlord seeing me naked &/or hearing/seeing my personal life. Other than all of this weird behavior, i like him, but I have to do something, & quick about this tearing down the walls for an “office” thing. To those of you who think "it is his property, and he can do as he wants" - THINK AGAIN. i PAY him, for this space - NOT the other way around. When i pay him for the space - the duration of the lease - it is MY space & MY home - he has under no circumstances NO RIGHT to enter with out MY PERMISSION.. I already know this. And he has NO right to tear down space that is already agreed as MNE when i agreed to live here. In addition, him taking more space would make the place inhabitable. I obviously want to move but it is NOT an option right now. I need advice - not ridiclous "answers" that don't even make sense. Those kind of answers you would not be giving yourself if this was YOUR situation, so don't bother saying stupid things like that to me. I am not an idiot who will believe it. Thank you, to those of you who really care & are intelligent. Imaginary scenarios? the walls are thin. I can hear what he says & does on the other side of the wall, so logically HE hears what i say & do. It isn't rocket science or "imaginary"! He does walk in and could walk in on me dressing or anything else personal. For a grandmother, mother, & wife of 44 yrs - you clearly could not be dumber. How naive. I am amazed by the idiots out here on yahoo, looking to verbally assault rather than help. And the reason i specified my privacy before hand obviously is because i HAVE had this happen before, like i specified, and wanted to make sure he understands that it is illegal. I have never made sure any one else understood & they did it. So, no, i didnt cause this to happen by making sure he understood my stance on it. Moron. That does not make the least bit of sense.
Parents: Your taste is appericated.? The homeless shelter in the text down just re-did all the bedrooms, bathrooms, playrooms, playgrounds, kitchen, etc. Everything looks beautiful EXCEPT the front living room, which is where the people can bring guests (that is the only room they can be in). The shelter turned the room over to me and said I can decorate it. Any ideas?? Between my 5 friends and I, we can spend $5,000.

I'm asking for a person who is very good at real estate and finding homes! I don't know how to decorate and when you find a home for me make sure it fits a guest room/ nursery, office, Master, and Dog room. Thanks so much!
