Contemporary Bedroom design help? Hi. I am designing a contemporary bedroom for about a 9x8ish room. However, I am stuck. I will for sure have a black glass top/metal frame contemporary computer table and will have a black wood platform bed. Basicallly, all my furnuture will be black. However, I am confused about the color of the walls. I really want the room to look sleek, but I am not sure how to do it. I was thinking of painting the walls white and the trim black, and then having red accents. Is this a good idea? How much red should I use? If not what color should the walls be? Should they be red, white, black, or gray? What about the carpet and trim? ALL SUGGESTIONS WILL BE APPREATED!!!!! Thanks!

Can I design my bedroom with a sleek contemporary feel if I have traditional furniture ? I am looking to redo our master bedroom, I would like to use a monochromatic color scheme. Contemporary bedroom ideas for a teen? Okay so, I have had several ideas on what I want to design my future bedroom, I'm pretty sure I will be getting a platform bed, but most likely it's going to be black, along with my dressers,nightstands,etc.. so, i was thinking i should get black trimming, white walls, and black wood flooring. Master Bedroom makeover help!? We have a very large 16x19 master bedroom. It has cheap 4-year-old beige and boring carpet and a bit darker beige walls. We have a very nice and contemporary bedroom set in a dark chocolate color. That’s pretty much it. We are trying to figure out what would make the biggest impact… Spend most of our money in very nice wood/laminate flooring, and a few touches of design like wall art, lamps and new bed covers; OR save the money from the wood/laminate floors and buy more furniture, wall mart, a large TV for the wall, better bed covers, etc. I’m thinking that if we skip the wood/laminate floors that the boring carpet will always be an eye sore… BUT going with the wood/laminate flooring will pretty much max out our budget for the makeover… What would you do?

Interior Designing Teen Bedroom? Hey all! My (almost) 15 year-old daughter is moving down to our (what is now) office. We have already painted her room a lilac/lavender color. She found a beautiful metal queen-sized bed frame and she doesn't know what else she wants. She can't decide between black or white furniture. The trim of the room is white. She wants the color scheme to now be purple, black and white. Would that work? Do you have any ideas for her room? She doesn't like contemporary but she doesn't want her room to look childish. She wants it "pretty" and sophisticated. Oh I almost forgot. She wants black and white photography in her room. Nothing with big flowers and no stripes or polkadots (Some exceptions) She has a very specific idea about her room and she just needs a little help (Remember a black metal bed) So what color furniture? Bedroom room suite color difference :(? Hello, I bought a contemporary leather bed from scan design and then I went out and bought 2 night tables and a dresser from a different store. Now my problem is that I thought that the bed was bright white and it is Ivory, but the furniture I bought is bright white with a shiny finish to it. I'm painting my room dark red color. Now can someone tell me if this is a good combination or do I have to do something about the furniture (which I really don't want to). Help....... I would like some ideas on designing a new living room...? My husband and I are in the process of purchasing new living room furniture. He is currently deployed and I'd love for him to come back to an amazing new design in the room we use most. Our styles conflict [my own style even conflicts itself at times!] he is into contemporary spaces where as I'm into "livable" spaces. Any tips for redoing my room? Hi! I'm 14 years and I'm redoing my bedroom. I want something mature but fun. And, I want to be able to like it for a long time. My room is kind of small so, i can't do a whole lot with it. it's also very bright. i want color but not really bright ones. I like fun patterns and designs like zebra print but i also like calmer things like candles. i'm a 13-year old girl desperate for a bedroom makeover!? ...but not as in painting and remodeling - just mostly reorganzing and redecorating, and i need some help with ideas! i want the feel of my room to be kind of calm/serene. my bedsheets are blue and brown but not dark brown), so i guess im going for that color palette (however, flowers/accents can be blue/green). i've already got some ideas, like, putting in a few vases of flowers and hanging some cute wall art. i also kind of want that contemporary-ish feel (kind of like the rooms on design on a dime). for instance, i have this big windowsill that has many stuffed animals on it, and i'm movng them out. what could i put on the windowsill? and also i have a bookshelf that i'm clearing all the junk off the top of it. i was thinking i could get different sized glass jars and fill them with seashells, but i don't where i could put them. it's like i have so many ideas but i don't know how to use them! but i'm not going to paint or buy furniture. please help; thanks so much! heres a rough plan of my room...sorry for the messy/crappyness! http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii165/fashionbloggert/room.jpg

I want to paint my livingroom and bedroom, what are cool combo colors and are there any websites I can go to? Help me decide on a contemporary look? I thought that there would be websites of different paint colors and designs and makeover rooms etc... but I have not came across any. I'm going to be living in a loft and I need a major paint job! interior design help? I have a medium sized bedroom and I am refurnishing it and repainting it. My plan is to give a contemporary look with some ikea furniture and a clean look. My main question is what should my secondary color for my walls be? i want my main color to be a silver grey (already chosen & painted) and im not sure what color for another wall. i dont want all the walls the same color. also, my accent color will be black. such as the furniture, wall trim and possibly outlets (is that too much?) im 20 y/o, male (if that makes any difference lol)

Help me find the name of this piece of art? It is an Adam and Eve Paining/ illustration. It is very graphic design/contemporary/modern/pop art. It is very colorful. The dimensions are much longer than it is taller. I saw it a year or maybe more ago. I just saw it for about 2 seconds on Clean House in an episode where the owners of the painting were very happy mark brunetts kept it for them and hung it up in the bedroom. Building a house in washington? I am looking to build a house in washington in the near future, in the seattle/renton area. I have been looking at land and am budgeting 75-100k for roughly an acre of land. (less if I chose to be closer to seattle) We would like total cost to be 350-400k. What kind of home can we expect to get for the remaining 250-300k? Is it cheaper to build, or more expensive? I cant find anywhere on line to give estimates. We are wanting 3 bedrooms with a "parent cave" in the basement with a wet bar/wine cellar area. 2,000-3,000sqft and we would like a contemporary design with nice features. we don't want a standard housing community design. We want a fireplace, 5 piece master bath with master walk-in. a nice patio with bbq area in the back etc. Is this reasonable? I have no idea what to prepare and budget for...Thank you for any help! Painting my walls! I need help figuring out my accent wall color, shade, and technique!!? I'm wanting to paint my walls grey, for a more contemporary look for my bedroom. I like the idea of having light grey on 3 of my walls, and have one wall another color, or a darker shade of grey. I'm also looking at techniques of painting the one accent wall, such a ragging, or sponging. Does anyone have any amazing design ideas, and have any advise on how I should complete this? Will changing the texture of the one accent wall make it too busy, or will leaving it solid provide enough variation to break up the monotones of the other three walls? Oh and one more thing! I have a huge window in my room, it covers most of my wall; should the accent wall be adjacent or opposite the window? Well I think that's it, any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

Can the rooms in a house be of different styles? I'm doing a project for school that involves designing the floor plan of a mansion and doing interior design for the newly designed mansion. However, I'm wondering if the various rooms in the mansion can be of different styles. I'm working in the postmodernist style for the architecture. The mansion itself has a Baroque front with a more modern-style back (lots and lots of windows). For the master bedroom, I want the furniture to be Baroque. For the living room, I want it to be contemporary. So is it okay that the rooms in the mansion are based on different styles or does all the furniture design have to be Baroque-style or contemporary-styled, etc?

Color palate for bed room? Hi, I wanted some suggestions on what colors to use for a new, fresh and relaxing feel for my bedroom and or almost edgy, slightly sleek, and sexy room. I am definitely open to ideas in-between a more modern look and a vintage field, how ever if your ideas are more modern, I don't want it to be to polished and crisp. Where to go for better option of crib sets? My daughter and I will share a bedroom and I want to find a crib set that is elegant and pretty... NOT cartoony or contemporary... I DON'T want polka-dots, stripes, shapes, animals or insects in the design. I want to try and keep my room a little adult-like while the rest of the house is taken over by kids. I'd like maybe a floral print. But not the bold bright floral cartoon daisies or anything like that. I don't want a solid either. Where can I find crib sets that reflect a more elegant taste? I feel I've searched to the end of the earth with no results. Help! My due date is in 7 weeks!

Why are there cut out holes or "windows" between the rooms in my house? My husband and I recently went to view a home we are very interested in buying. The house was built in 1930 and would have been very contemporary for the time. All through the house there are these holes in the walls between the rooms. They appear to be part of the original design, and look like windows without glass. One of them is a skinny vertical hole between the master bedroom and a small room next to it. There is one between two rooms in the basement. The strangest one is the master bath and it is in a wall that is over the two level kitchen. You could literally drop things from the bathroom down into the kitchen. I believe we counted 5 of them total. I first thought they might be for heating and cooling purposes but a home built in the 1930's doesn't seem old enough for that. Any ideas? They holes are pretty neat. I actually like them a lot, my husband not so much. They don't appear to have ever had glass in them but I would like to add stained glass. They are very interesting perhaps I will be able to find some information on the designer.

Decorating around boyfriend's burgundy duvet cover? I have moved into my boyfriend's house, and we're working on remodling and redecorating. I'm stuck when it comes to the bedroom. He's got dark brown (big, heavy) furniture, that is staying for now, and a burgundy duvet cover which he doesn't want to part with. Burgundy is probaby my least favorite color when it comes to interior design. So my question is: What other colors can I use in the room that will complement the burgundy, but will still keep it looking contemporary and fresh? The room doesn't' get a ton of natural light, so dark colors on the wall won't work. Please help!

Creating my own King size headboard...HELP!>? I would like to create my own King Size headboard for our bed. I've been shopping for new bedroom sets and nothing is quite what I am looking for. I seen an episode of that home make over show and there was one where they made a headboard. I'm going to have it against a red wall and my theme is contemporary, black white red. The picture in my head is black... with button stitches... or dark wood black, with a red centered (not sure the word I am looking for) pudgy, pillowing kinda part that has the cris cross stitching with button accents... I am probably not explaining it right... Any idea where to start and how to go about this project? My husband is a general contractor and thinks I am nuts and just wants me to go buy one.... Any other ideas of how to create a headboard?
