Master bedroom decorating ideas? Light carpet, dark wood trim & dark wood furniture. Any ideas for walls, windows, bedding? Thanks!

I am having some issues with decorating my master bedroom. Help!? I have a rather large space (17x17 ft) with a vaulted ceiling that angles up and creates a plant shelf above the door to the master bath. I would like some suggestions on what to do with this shelf area. It is about 12 ft long and 4 ft deep and is about 9 ft from the floor and is 5 ft tall. I would say that our style is "transitional" not too contemporary and not too traditional. Also I am having trouble with the color scheme. Our furniture is dark cherry, our bedding is khaki and creme striped and the carpet is beige. The walls are currently khaki and all of the neutrals are starting to get to me!! I would like to add some color but with such large walls I am afraid of being overwhelmed. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

The walls are a light/medium brown color and I have very dark wood furniture that will be going in there. I want the room to be very romantic and I have a few elements that will for sure be in there. I have a very large grey and white canvas painting of the eiffel tower that will go above our bed and I want to take our wedding pics and frame them to make a kind of collage on the wall. I am getting my wedding pics printed in black and white with only my bouquet being colored. My bouquet was calla lillies and they were red/burnt orange color so the three colors that will be in the room will be the brown on the walls, grey, and burnt orange/red. Can anyone tell me if I should use more brown or grey when decorating and what color my bedding should be... I was thinking simple white beDding with a few red and orange pillows.... I need some help decorating Master Bedroom and I don't know where to start!? So my Husband and I are buying a new house and we'd really like to do something special in the Master Bedroom, but I am a decorating novice. We really like earthy/natural colors, but I'm really hitting a block. I can't decide what color paint or even bedding. We do have nice maple dresser and nightstand set with marble tops that we are going to keep, but other than that I've got nothing. Bedroom Paint/Decorating Ideas for Master Bedroom and its Balcony. I've been thinking of painting my room, but i don't know which colors i should pick........ Well the room's 17 x 14 feet in size and it has a sliding door at the other end as a window. decorating master bedroom? okay this may a hard one to figure out...as I need to ask because of the trouble I am finding myself! Our bedroom is painted a medium taupe. (light brown for those that wonder what taupe is!) The trim and molding is white. The theme is a relaxed beach feel. There is a hallway in the room that leads to the master bath and I painted that hall a light ocean blue. The blue matches the paintings in the room which are that of a beach and ocean. We are looking for a comforter set. I don't want to have too much brown (our bed set and dresser set are dark wood). I also don't want blue since there is blue in the paintings against the taupe. Decorating a master bedroom on a budget? I really need to do something with the master. Its not huge, but I would say it's normal sized...I live in a townhome..that is about 1300 sq feet, so the room is okay. It's vaulted ceilings though, so I do not know how I should paint it. I don't have a bedroom set yet, and I plan on buying one within the next year, but I could do without it for now. Right now its purple..my bedspread, my my side tables have purple tableclothes on them. Help decorating a master bedroom...? I have a brand new beautiful deep red comforter and matchng curtains in our master bedroom... It has gold flowers with green leaves (maybe olive color) but the leaves are drowned out by the gold in the deign and with the neutral brownish/beigeish wall. It feels too yellow/gold. The furniture which will be natural wood tones it will not perfectly match but, I think it will look really nice. My master bedroom is 14x20 with one large picture window and a smaller, skylight type window above it (there's a vaulted ceiling).We have His and Hers closets and a bathroom. Is it okay to paint the master bedroom the same color as the master bathroom? Both of these rooms are painted a chocolate brown color, which I really like. In the bedroom, my accent color is green. Any ideas for decorating a very long ledge in my master bedroom? The ceiling is high and also angles down and the ledge is on the higher end. It is above the door and wide closet which are off-white, and there is 3 inch plain molding(also off-white) on the edge of the ledge. The room is painted in a warm taupe and the style is Old Worldish with dark woods including an old French style ceiling fan with carved dark wood and antique amber glass. The room doesn't get a lot of light which is why I've kept the door, closet and trim off-white to balance the dark woods. I don't really want a vignette type arrangement or silk/real plants, but something more architectural to add to the Old World feel without looking 'staged' or 'crafty'. I've considered large metal scroll wall art but wonder how that would look against all the white trim, etc...Any suggestions pics or links would be appreciated. Thanks.

How should I decorate my master bedroom? So, I'm trying to decorate our bedroom (on a shoe string budget). We are newlyweds with very different styles. My husband is an avid outdoors man and hunter. While I love the outdoors I don't want to live in a hunting lodge. In an effort to keep all of his hunting paraphernalia in one room I'd like to put it all in our bedroom. (keeps it out the parts of the house where guests would be) He's got several paintings, drawing and pictures of hunting scenes, two mounted deer heads, one mounted elk (it's huge) and one turkey tail. Along with some carved ducks. What I'm thinking is doing it like a 50's style lounge meets hunting lodge. Think along the lines of if Frank Sinatra had a weekend hunting lodge. I'm thinking putting all of the photos and "heads" on one wall. Maybe paint the wall a silvery pale gray or a pale blue. Either leaving the frames the mismatched woods that they are or painting them all silver or white. Painting the other walls either pale blue or maybe white. I thought I could add silver vintage elements (maybe paint some of the wood ducks silver). Maybe use chocolate brown as an accent? Any opinions or suggestions? Do you think this could look neat? It has vaulted ceilings and it's pretty big, but it's too much white. What colors should I paint it? My downstairs is two tone tan color; very neutral. I have black furniture in the bedroom. Please help me with decorating ideas? We moved into a new house (2 story) in March. My son's room is decorated Atlanta Braves (top wall tan, bottom wall blue with a red board) and my daughter's room is decorated My Little Pony (top wall tan, bottom wall light pink with a dark pink stripe on top of it and pony names stenciled along that top stripe). The south wall (this is also where the door is) has a niche/sitting area. It only goes back about three feet. I was thinking of putting a chair and small side table there, but not sure what color to get the chair. Most of my bedding is blue stripe or plaid. How should I decorate my master bedroom? So, I'm trying to decorate our bedroom (on a shoe string budget). We are newlyweds with very different styles. My husband is an avid outdoors man and hunter. While I love the outdoors I don't want to live in a hunting lodge. In an effort to keep all of his hunting paraphernalia in one room I'd like to put it all in our bedroom. (keeps it out the parts of the house where guests would be) He's got several paintings, drawing and pictures of hunting scenes, two mounted deer heads, one mounted elk (it's huge) and one turkey tail. Along with some carved ducks. What I'm thinking is doing it like a 50's style lounge meets hunting lodge. Think along the lines of if Frank Sinatra had a weekend hunting lodge. I'm thinking putting all of the photos and "heads" on one wall. Maybe paint the wall a silvery pale gray or a pale blue. Either leaving the frames the mismatched woods that they are or painting them all silver or white. Painting the other walls either pale blue or maybe white. I thought I could add silver vintage elements (maybe paint some of the wood ducks silver). Maybe use chocolate brown as an accent? Any opinions or suggestions? Do you think this could look neat? When decorating ? My master bedroom is quite large. The master bath is just off the side of the room. You can not see into the bath from the doorway........ should the decorating styles and colors of the bath match what is done in the bedroom or can they be completely different? Well, I saw a model home that had a darker "beige" walls but the back accent wall that the bed was on was super dark plum/wine color. We have a really high ceiling that comes down on an angle with a "shelf" cut out on the side really high up above the closet door. Our doors are 6 panel white and our flor trim is white. I aw a bathroom with the same color white trim and doors done in a dark rose color and thought it was pretty. Maybe I could put a floral decoration and valance in the bath with the rose and wine and beige colors that could tie it all together?

Best style curtains for sill-length in transitional (traditional but simpler) bedroom over radiator? Please help with this design dilemma. In our 1950's small ranch master bedroom, we have corner windows. The main window, that would make the most visual impact, is 63"w by 55" to sill, and it sits right over the old-style heater! The window is flanked by a smaller one, 30"w by 55" to sill. Beyond the concern of the heater which we can't block, there is hte issue of the framing- there are apparently no studs, and the frames of the windows are flush against each other. We live in the cool-winter Northeast, and want to insulate as well as decorate. We will need lined drapes. The furniture is golden pine colored, in simple style, but reminscent of traditional decor. The walls are a rich and deep yellow green (brighter than the olive which suits me) and the floor is strictly a beige (no pink undertones). There are only small touches of maroon or crimson for accent, and I would like maybe a floral that goes well in winter and summer, that uses red. What shape of curtains is best?

How To Conceal/Decorate Window Behind Bed? We recently purchased a new home, and I'm having issues arranging the furniture in our master bedroom. The only two walls that I can place my bed in front of each have a 37" square window. My bed would be directly in front of the window. I'd really like to position the bed diagonally, but the room feels really cramped that way. How can I either conceal or decorate around the window? I'm really at a loss. My headboard is 61" high and covers the bottom 12-14" of the window. I'd like to put something on the wall to completely cover the window, but I have no idea what to do so with. HELP! Home Decorating: stick w/one theme throught whole house or is it overkill? My husband and I recently bought a 2005, 4bdrm, 3bath home in the Dallas metro area. We made the first floor office room into a small home gym, and the upstairs game room into my husband's home office (which he needs a ton of room as he works from home). kept the remaining bedrooms as guest bedrooms, both w/ Q-size beds. Eventually, we plan to move the servers elsewhere and convert the server room into a third bedroom. If we have a baby in the meantime, we will keep it in the master br w/ us at least until the child is three years old, but probably closer to five. I want a palm/date tree feel to the house. Not "tropical" feel in the sense of islands or "beaches", but more Middle Eastern/mediterannean feel. Would it be overkill to carry this theme throughout the house. We have ab 3.200 square foot home, with the MBR the only BR downstairs. Should I do something different upstairs? Or should I only keep this theme in the Living Areas downstairs? Christmas Tree (s)? Each year I put up at least 3 Christmas trees. One in our master bedroom, all done in white makes the room very romantic. One in the living room, done with popcorn, cranberries, and gingham bows. The "main tree" in the dining room, its the biggest, with all of my childrens keepsake ornaments. All three children get a new ornament every year, and my oldest child is 24 so there are lots of ornaments. Ok now the question. My husband thinks that I decorate too much, my kids love the way the house looks at Christmas. So should I cut back to make hubby happy? Or keep on doing to make kids happy?
