Need color ideas for a small bedroom?

I'm about to paint a bedroom in my new house that is almost too small to even be considered a bedroom. I know I should keep the color light....and I'm lost! Any suggestions? I should note that I HATE yellow.

  1. Chinese red makes for a wonderful bedroom color in a small space---your choices for complementary colors for accessorizing are unlimited----black, gold, white, green, cream, etc....
  2. My sons room is rather small and we painted it a sage green! It came out great! I'm with you on the yellow thing.
  3. A pastel green might be nice. It would look very fresh and give the room a light, airy look, and it would coordinate with a lot of other colors, light or dark.
  4. Small room? Think mirrors - helps spread light and open the space. Make sure the ceiling is lighter than the rest of the room - and as you pick colors, think lighting too - good lighting can help brighten space Another technique is to not make all four walls the same color. For instance - pick a focal spot in the room, and blend the colors so that the focal point is the lightest corner, and the other walls gradually change their colors from darkest (nearest the door) to lightest (at the focal point) Good luck - sounds like a fun challenge
  5. Light Green, Baby Blue, Light Purple, maybe a cream! hope, that helps! :)
  6. I would recommend keeping it light but if you are into something a bit bolder, just go for it!my last bedroom was quite small but it was painted a gorgeous teal colour.i just kept the furniture mimal to make the room seem larger.hanging mirrors gives the illusion of space so you could always do that.keeping your floors, carpet or a rug lighter will also give the room the feeling of being larger.goodluck!
  7. if you want to make it look bigger paint the wall behind the head of the bed a darker colour then the other walls. Go get a color code chart and go with whatever light shade u like mabe rose or salmon?
  8. WHAT COLOR DO YOU LIKE? WHATEVER IT IS, KEEP IT LITE.. YOUR WALLS IN MY OPINION SHOULD BE EGGSHELL.. THE TRIM { BASE BOARDS, DOOR AND WINDOW TRIM WOULD LOOK NICE IN A SATIN FINISH IN A PURE WHITE COLOR .
  9. White makes small rooms apear much bigger =] Light sky blue would be nice, if you still want some colour, or light green? Like, really pale, or yeah, there are alot, of shades of paint.. You could have a talk to the people down at your local paint shop? They would be quite expericened in that kinda field, with situations like that.. Good luck with your room =]
  10. pink would look fab
  11. I've noticed that lighter colors make a room look bigger. I had an average sized room and I painted it dark blue. It looked okay but a few years later I grew tired of the dark blue and went to a grayish blue that was definitely lighter. I didnt get rid of any furniture, or rearrange my room in any way, and it looked much bigger. Maybe this is just me, but the baby blue color seems a bit cliche for bedrooms. I'd suggest a light beige or something natural and light, and then bring in your real color with the accessories, but that's just my opinion. and I dont blame you. I like yellow in general but on walls it looks cheap and tacky.
  12. Any colour, as long as it's white.
  13. Robin's egg blue and carribean green are very popular right now. You could also do a light cafe mocha - definitely stay in the light side of the color spectrum to make the room appear larger. Also, go online to sherwin williams - they have fabulous online tools that help you decide a color pallette.
  14. reds & oranges are out of the question. u should always go for the colder colors in bedrooms. blues r the perfect color cause they calm u down & relax ur body, green is also a good hue as long as it's pale. u can always use off-white, or earth tones (which reduce stress). my bedroom is light pink, & beige. at the end, its whatever makes u comfortable. remember... don't over-accessorize!
  15. Peaches and cream. Peach walls and a creme colored woodwork. It will make the room feel open, airy and fresh. Easy colors to decorate with too.
