Beach Cottage bedroom design ideas?
My fiancee and I have just bought our house, a cape. The Master bedroom is pretty large and has pitched ceilings. I'm looking for paint and design ideas so the room is beach cottagey and comfortable to make a relaxing and romantic space. Outside of white, what paint colors should I use and how should I implement them on pitched ceilings? Should I paint the walls up to the point that they start pitching or the pitch as well? Also, should I differ the paint colors on the 2 walls that are flat from floor to ceiling? What are some other ideas that might complete a beach cottage design for a bedroom? Thanks for your help! All these are great ideas! I really REALLY appreciate them!

- For some great decor on the beach theme.... Zgallerie's new line is all about the beach. check it out below. As far as colors, I would good with a blue wall color (one that has some grey tones so its not too cheesy) use bright white furniture as well. good luck. http://www.zgallerie.com/default.aspx?
- I would keep the ceiling a separate color from the walls and preferably white or cream. If you paint it the same it will bring the ceiling down and you will lose that open airy feel. Take a look at pale blue colors maybe with a white B-Board application in white half way up on one or more walls. A couple of painted wooden andirondak chairs with beachy pillows could accent a nice seating area in the room along with a colorful rug. Stay away from the seashell approach and strive for sleek sophisticated beach cottage.
- Paint the ceilings to the start of the slope. It will make it appear more open. I gave you a link to a mural, it shows how a bed would look with it and then there are some more. Then I thought you could make the room like a fancy hotel. Nice airy sheets, a chaise with a side table and some pillows with a throw. Good luck!
- Congratulations! This sounds beautiful. I would suggest you stick with a warm white for your furniture color. The walls would be beautiful painted a soft color like "Glimmer", from Sherwin William's. It is on their web site under the color visualizer section. It is a pale soft aqua that is very relaxing. Paint all four walls the above color and then when the ceiling starts pitching, you would paint white. Light and airy is the key here. Since your master bedroom is rather large, perhaps you have room for two comfortable chairs that you and your fiance' can curl up on and read a good book on a relaxing Sunday afternoon. You would probably need blinds on the windows, for privacy reasons. Other than that either white valances or sheer white panels for window treatments. Artwork on the walls should have white frames. Beach themed potpourri in a bowl on her dresser would be a nice added touch. Fresh flowers for a pop of color would be pretty. A comforter with white and pale aqua would fit into your theme, with big fluffy down pillows for a cozy night's sleep. I wish you two the best of luck in your new house!
