Please help me with ideas for decorating my bedroom.......?
I am a 17 year old girl and I am moving room in my house. The one I am moving into is bigger, and I can decorate it however I want. I am not a preppy stlye person. I would like a medieval, Lord of the Rings type theme. I have beautiful purple bedspread and love green aswell. What kind of colours should I use to paint? What furniture and ornaments should I use? Pillows, curtains, princess nets?? I have a sword and two lovely medieval portraitrs of girl warriors. Thank you, I am very excited!

- Use those colors... Plus have the type of furniture from LOTR if you can get some... Or make it! Have LOTS of small corded pillows on the bed... lol.... Use the colors that are in your bedspread and in the paintings, in lighter shades to paint the walls and trim. Try to find matching curtains or drapes... or use purple for the inside curtain, and put a light matching green for an outer curtain.... That's how I have mine lol... Hang the sword between the paintings on the wall that would most compliment them. Yes, use a princess net... You can dye it to compliment your room! You are only limited to your imagination!!!!!
- If you're going to go with strong colors like deep purple, a strong green would be nice. But the color of the carpet kind of comes into play here. If its a neutral like a gray or pale tan you'd be okay with the green. If its not, go for a cream or pale yellow on the walls. Furniture - heavy dark wood unless you want the french provincial look which is light. A free standing mirror would be nice. Drapes that match wall color drawn back with a heavy gold tassle. Use some throw pillows of lavender and gold along with your dark spread. Have a good time with it. You sound like an imaginative and creative gal!
- Hi, I would go for neutral colours if you are having sumptuous deep colours in your bedding, curtains and accessories, you will find that having them against a neutral colour accentuates their richness.Medieval schemes would call for wonderful tapestry, velvet, satin cushions/throws and pillows. Drapes would suit this style of room, floor length and preferably in a colour that matches your bedspread. I would go for darkish wood furniture which is in keeping with that period. Have fun making your own little haven!

- Several years ago, a friend of mine did her living room in a medieval castle theme complete with stone walls. The walls were left the same but by faux painting on "stones" in tones of greys and blacks with a little brown, she created a very realistic castle feel. If you can't paint the actual wall, get a few inexpensive white sheets from somewhere like walmart and paint the stones onto them. Then hang them on the walls. I would use purple (color of royalty) to adorn your bed. Drape it from the cieling along the sides of your bed chamber. Also, for hinges on the door, use the big black iron kind (find them in the fencing dept. at lowes, home depot etc...) Maybe you can get some armor and a helmet and make a knight with a scabbard and spear to guard the entrance? In the corner, an oversized chair or throne. If you do your whole house, why not change the door bell to a dark castle like throng sound. I think painting stones onto the walls will set the mood and offer the most dramatic setting. You sound very creative and I bet you will be able to sort through all of the suggestions and come up with even better and more original ideas. Good luck on an ambitious idea and fun project!
