How tacky would it be?
I recently came across a beautiful, modern, well priced canopy bed which is something I have always wanted. Unfortunately, it only comes in a black metal finish & all my bedroom furniture is a very dark espresso color. Can I mix the black bed with the dark brown furniture? Could I spraypaint it without making it look gross & terribly cheap & if so should I do it in silver (the rest of the metal in the room is silver) or paint it brown?

- i wouldn't spray paint it i think dark espresso and black go very well together sounds lovely
- change some furniture in your room to black rod or cast iron... Mirrors, chairs, fraims, hardware..youll be good. Dont ask how I know the answer to this question, I have my masculinity to preserve.
- please dont ruin a beautiful artwork like that with spray paint. just leave it as it is or get it professionaly done.
- black and espresso go well together.. black in itself is a dark colour so mixing 2 dark shades is fine.. whatever u do DO NOT spraypaint ur bed...
- Black and dark brown furniture go very well together, just go pick out pretty bedding and it will all work out.
- I think the black is fine. Just buy some sconces or black iron wall accents to incorporate it with your current decor. If you decide to paint it, silver is a good choice or a antiqued silver or antiqued brown. You may have to do touchups if the paint comes off. Have fun and be creative.
- black and wood go well with each other but they do make amazing paint and paint treatments these days so paint it how you would like. It will be a prominent piece in the room so make sure you like it!! Good luck!
- black metal pretty much goes with everything. painting over it will be a bad idea. just try to go with it and maybe consider painting the room to make everything mesh.
- black goes with browns and give more rhythmic look put brown bed spreads over it. because color of bed sheets gives the complete look to ur room. painting it may spoil the original finish of the product.
- I would first prime it......then paint it a light brown. After the light brown dries.... i would take some brown expresso colored paint on a paint brush.....paint it onto a rag with the paintbrush and then just lightly wipe the brown paint onto the light brown just to give a 'shadowing' effect of the dark brown onto the light brown... (to match the other pieces in the bedroom). This way, it doesn't seem like you tried to be too 'matchy matchy' with the bed that obviously is a seperate piece than the other pieces of the bedroom set......AND....it will add visual interest to the room.
