Where is a good place to buy inexpensive, but not "CHEAP" furniture?

I need to get furniture for my townhouse, we have a three bedroom, two bath, and two kids. My husband and I like modern styled furniture, but don't know a good place to go to get quality furniture that will not fiberboard apart on us, yet will not break our bank account either. Does anybody know of an affordable place to get furniture for our house? We will be furnishing the kid's rooms, our room, the living room, and the dining room. For a reference point we currently live in Virginia. We will be moving overseas next October, but we need the furniture now! A futon and air mattress is not cutting it, and the kids have outgrown their crib!

  2. Ikea!
  3. I don't know if they'd have anything like this where you live, but where I live there's a furniture store that caters to college students. They have a lot of futons, but they have other stuff too. The furniture is great. I bought a really cool king size bed there, everything included (mattress, boxspring, head and foot board, the bed itself, delivery) for $700! Their futons and twin size beds ran for between $75 and $200. They had catalogues that you could order anything you wanted out of. Look around for a store like that.
  4. If you have a Salvation Army thrift store near you, you will find furniture people have donated. Some of it is nice.
  5. Ikea. however, do not choose the cheapest choices there but choose their higher end things. their leather is a great choice, because it's cheap yet nice. for the kids, don't worry. all their bedding is sturdy and modern. i have the malm with the whole set-bed, connected drawer so it looks like one piece, and an ottoman thing. http://65.17.227.36/IKEAStoreLocator/FindStores.aspx those are all the stores in ikea this is what i have http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S69849241 with http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30056934 http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50106495 much more!
  6. Ikea is junk. Slumberland is more expensive, but it's not K-Mart quality junk that will break quickly. Ikea stuff lasts about 5 years, maybe 6 or 7 years max, while Slumberland stuff lasts forever... http://slumberland.com/
  7. Try overstock.com. Got a lot of quality pieces for great prices and they ship for like a buck...you can't beat that! I furnished my entire master bedroom including flat panel tv.
