decorating kids bedroom & bathroom?
My boyfriend and I don't have his kids stay with us very often so when they do all 4 of them stay in the same bedroom. We haev two sets of bunk beds. The room isn't that big but I would like to set it up so that it is more appealing & more useful to the kids. (2 boys and 2 girls ages 5-10). The room is white. Bathroom attached is yellow and I have started a fish theme. Anyone got any advice as to how to make this work for the kids?

- why don't you carry the fish theme through the whole area and do an under the sea theme you could get some plush bean bags to put on the floor and and some netting and fish to hang from the ceiling. the possibilities are endless
- Don't go crazy! The day will come when they are not little anymore, and you don't want major remodeling. In the bathroom, get a shower curtain with fish on it, or a beach scene. You could find a toilet seat with a similar theme. Also a little waste basket, even a clothes hamper to match. These would not cost a fortune, and would be easy to replace as people age. If you have a window, you could get some fish or ocean curtains too. Maybe even a few no slip stick ons of fish in the tub, that could eventually be removed. If you got everything, I think you would still be under $200. 00. Try a place like Bed, bath, and beyond. They have a lot of this stuff, plus they always have discount coupons floating around. You could paint the bedroom an aqua color. Again you could get some fish or beach sheets, and curtains. Again you are not talking about a fortune. Maybe you could find a nice poster or print for the wall. Good Luck!
- Navy with the existing white would look sharp and still work with the yellow fish bath. Look for navy and white bedding. There are lots of pattern options available, esp. now going into summer--you could do all 4 bunks the same or coordinating patterns, say, stripes for boys and stars for girls. Then, whatever pattern, (seashells or waves would work too) you can pull a motif from it to paint or wallpaper a border around the room. Personally, I'd opt for paint. It's what I do and you get exactly what you want. It's fairly simple to stencil or tape off a stripe around a room.
