How can I decorate my bedroom walls for cheap?

Hello, we just moved from Germany to the USA and had to spend a lot of money on the move. Now I don't have a whole lot of money left for decoration, and our bedroom walls in our apartment are just plane white and boring. I would like to hang some black and white art or pictures. How can I do something like this my selfe for cheap? It doesn't have to be black and white though. I'm open for everything. Does anybody have any idea? I hope you can help me! Thank you so much.

1. Take photographs and print them in black and white, buy cheap black frames and put the pictures in by yourself. Pretty cheap and it's meaningful as you just moved.

I like the first answer but if thats not what you want to do, you could paint (or have) a mural painted on the wall actually from a photo, your favorite painting etc. in black and white....or you could put fabric on the walls, its really not as bad as it sounds. Depending on how its done, it can actually turn out beautiful! You could also use stencils and paint patterns on them....another thing you could do is paint words on the walls... like ''dream'' ..... ''imagine'' etc. I know its child like but if its done well and in the right colors, your room will actually have a more relaxed atmosphere. I read that one in an article on hgtv. Anyway good luck!
3. summer is a great time for garage saling. you can get some great pictures for just a couple of dollars. use your computer and print out some color photos you like from the net. got kids? let them paint (within) certain areas and frame them. go to a fabric store and find the fabric with scenes on it. buy a yard (most go for no more than 6 dollars at the most. wrap the fabric over some poster board buy some cheap frames or make them and frame the fabric.
4. thrift stores and garage sales are PERFECT for what your looking for, very cheap and very original!
