Bedroom Talk

As far as merchandise for fans goes, who agrees that the kids are pretty lucky these days?

I was perusing NHL.com's Shop... and I noticed you can buy everything but the kitchen sink (which will be available soon, I'm sure) with your team's logo on it. Light fixtures, dinnerware, furniture, bedroom sets, rugs/mats, office supplies... The list goes on and on. There's a lot of fun stuff for kids too; in fact, they're selling back-to-school merch right now. Example of NHL.com's assorted "back-to-school" backpacks and bags: http://shop.nhl.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2561158&clickid=body_rv_img That is a sweet frickin' messenger bag. I guess a con of the many cool things you can buy is that they're, well, pretty darn expensive. However... if any of you want to buy that for me so I can put my laptop in it, just e-mail me. :P Haha, as an experiment, I should buy a bag with a Flyers logo on it and walk around Pittsburgh to see how long it is before I'm mowed down by a U.S. Postal Service truck... Just kidding. NOAH - AHH, FOR SURE! Lol! Old school knob hockey. That's really sweet. fugutastic - I agree, that wearing a jersey to a game doesn't make you a fan---but I love junk. Lol. And the USPS thing was just an inside joke, I guess.

  1. I definitely do. I know kids that have their whole rooms decorated in Sharks colors, we NEVER had that stuff before the new millennium.
  2. lmao buffalo jersey's are on sale. thats gotta make u wonder if their bandwagon was on the brige in minnesota
  3. LMAO at someone going postal on you. He'd mow you down. Either that or he might pick you up and take you to a bar so you can have the pleasure of hanging out with him for the day. He is really funny too. On second thought, give me the quick punishment and mow me down. Pretty please.
  4. I've always wanted a light shade that looked like the clock over centre ice.
  5. Kids today, what do they know? Now, I'd trade what's left of my soul for any one of these: http://www.lemonttablehockey.com/usopen/exhibit/1973_munro_wha_hockey.jpg http://www.lemonttablehockey.com/usopen/exhibit/1962_munro_electric.jpg
  6. that bag would be 50X better if it were a capitals bag.
  7. I feel cheated! It wasn't that long ago when I was in school (I've been out of high school for nine years, college for three, but going back). In fact, I may pick up a Penguins messenger bag for myself after all. Kids have it so easy these days...
  8. Most certainly. I remember back in the early 70's, when I formed my own team, that our jerseys were actually sweatshirts with home made embroidered logos. Talk about love for the game. Then I was in dreamland when Flyers jerseys became available in my area. I'll bet that we played with a greater passion and appreciation than what kids these days can even conceptualize.
  9. I would say kids are not that lucky as now it's all about forking over a fortune for a jersey. We never had to wear a jersey to go see a game. Most of what you talk about is junk. In the "old" days you could write pretty much any NHL team and get free decals and other stuff. Now teams are chintzy. Guess what, since the Steelers rule Pittsburgh, hardly anyone would notice. Maybe if you walked near the Igloo but why would a USPS truck mow you down. Are USPS guys known as hardcore hockey fans?
