Access restriction using Linksys wireless router.?
I have a linksys wireless router. The second computer is in the kids bedroom. I have been into the linksys router to "access restrictions" and have tried setting the time to restrict access after 10 pm. This has not worked, I even tried to shut it off completely. How do I get this to work? I just don't want the kids on after 10 pm. I am thinking that maybe I didn't get the mac address right but I am sure I got it through the command prompt ipconfig/all-"physical address. Does anyone know how to make this work?

- try downloading a program to deny them access to the pc after a specific time but be careful if your kids become computer savy they can realize how easy it is to disable the programs
- I am not sure why its not working. The first thing I would do is call linsys and ask them. If that don't help you could just take the power cord to the computer at night... Or even the mouse... or keyboard... Well good luck! Andrew God Bless
- Unfortunately it only works if the unit is logged off and then they try to get back on after 10. I've tried it I know. Here is a free software you can use called K9 works well for a freebie. Good Luck and keep them safe. I thought of something overnight that may work. Set your DHCP Lease time to 10 minutes. Then they will have to get a new lease every 10 minutes and after 10 o'clock it may deny a new lease.
- I have a stupid suggestion but I've seen it happen before. Do you have a wireless card and a regular network card in that computer? If you do, your computer has two different MAC addresses. Ipconfig /all should list both. Use the MAC address list restriction too to avoid outsiders to use your router.
- You have get the Laptop off the wireless before that time restriction starts. It works well for me. If you further questions, contact Linksys Support.
