Redecorating teen bedroom?
I have a really big room so there's like an endless list of things I can do with it. Right now it's extremely boring with off white walls and boring furniture. I want to redecorate my bedroom and make it extremely funky with bright colours and everything. I was thinking about orange walls, but so many people say that would look ugly even though I love the colour orange! I don't want dark colours or even pastel...I just want bright colours; something fun and exciting. Any ideas?

- Orange is bright, so just tone certain things down. I went to valspar to look at colors to see what went well with orange. I chose 'orange glow' for the walls. For the bed sheets and curtains I chose 'belle grove sorbet'. For the comforter I thought 'chimney smoke'. For accessories I would go white with them. Picture frames lamps, mirror frames, etc. Now for pictures take them to a print shop and have them do an Andy Warhol look to them but dont them 4 times times, just have them change the colors so it is a bit different. If possiblr change your light fixture to a chandelier type I like ikea.com Horby chandelier/spotlight. Paint the doors the same dark grey as the comforter/duvet. Hope this sparks an idea. Mander B. Oh do the walls orange, its your room.
- If you like color.and orange...try http://www.lnt.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2061384&cp=1331605.1331626.1331988&view=all&parentPage=family theses colors. here is something... http://www.colourlovers.com/palette/102365/nymphomaniac just not the black. and you can most likely find matching rugs, bedding ect. you can do your comforter a color that will stand out and not used a lot and pillows that match your walls and ect.
- If orange is your favorite color do not paint the walls that color the lights in the room will effect the color too much. Place an opposing color on the walls. If you look at a color wheel draw a triangle using Orange, Violet and Green. Choose shades of these colors equally space apart on the wheel that you like. Choose one of these to paint the walls, the most neutral of the three. Then go crazy with the other two colors and splashes of the first. Working with tertiary colors really works great.
- Oh I love orange, especially when paired with things like brown and turquoise. I wouldn't necessarily paint my walls orange (unless it's a single accent wall) but if that's what you like, go for it! If it were me, I'd paint my walls a more subtle color and use orange for my other stuff... the comforter, lampshades, accent rugs, and about a zillion other little accents around the room. If you don't want to settle things down with darker colors like brown, then why not turn your room in to one giant sun explosion? Bright Yellows, Oranges and reds go together, you just have to be careful not to over do it. Also, Blue is the complimentary color to orange, so bright orange with blue accents will really pop. Whatever you do, just make sure YOU like it. Who cares if other people think it's ugly? If you're comfortable and happy and you find it pretty, then the room is perfect!
- play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/ They have a color called "swimming" (# 6764) that's a nice bright blue, and I think it would look smashing if you got an orange bedspread to contrast it.
