I have some built flat pack furniture and wife wants a revamp in bedroom and wants the green doors and drawer fronts painting another colour ! Is the surface of this furniture melamine over chipboard? can you get paint for this job ? and will it stay looking good if painted as i am concerned about chipping ect?

- Dulux cupboard paint will do it for you.
- Yes u can get special paint - do a search at B&Q and you should find the right product. Good Luck!
- I have done this to some wardrobes. Just give them a good sanding then use a primer and undercoat before painting
- in diy stores you need a product called makes paint stick and there are many some for melamine some for steel ect its supposed to be excelent according to the diy programmes
- You could spray them with car paint , its very tough and gives a beautiful finish unlike a brush , you get primmer spray too.
- if the surface is shiny and smooth with no blemishes or lumps then chances are then it will be melamine. you will have to prime the surface with a proprietry melamine primer (b&q etc) and paint with your colour. remember if you spray paint it take your time and use several layers rather than one/two thick coats as this will help with knocks/chips etc. if you use a brush and you want a pro finish then get a good brush, the better the brush the better the finish
