- Beige carpet looks good with anything. =) But it can get dirty quickly, especially if you have pets.
- I'd look at a frieze type of carpet that has flecks in it. I put this in the family room in our last house and the bedrooms in the house before that. So soft on the feet and the flecks already in it help with not noticing any other flecks that were not in the carpet (get it?). Durable too. they carry it everywhere, home depot and the carpet stores. I'd suggest putting an 8lb carpet pad under it (much more comfortable) or even spending the money on the waterproof type pads (pet proof & possibly in just the family room) if you are planning on staying there awhile. Cause if this is your first baby, you have know idea what's in store for you! In a couple of years you're talking peepee accidents, pooping accidents, vomit, and even when they are potty trained and sick - yes I have had to clean diarrhea up off of the carpet because someone didn't make it to the bathroom in time. Not to mention the other crap that will just get spilled. Oh, and you're gonna want to keep a bissel quick steamer (approx $100) on hand too.
- Have you considered the following instead of carpet: 1.Vinyl floor covering: http://www.hometips.com/hyhw/surfaces/168resilient.html 2.Linoleum floor covering: http://www.demesne.info/Improve-Your-Home/Floor-Coverings/Linoleum-Floors.htm 3. Hardwood floors If you still want carpet, go to a carpet shop and talk to a salesperson. Some will even come to your house to see what would work best for you and your family.
