Bedroom Decorating Help Please !?!?!!?

I am a teenager looking to redecorate my bedroom. We are doing a lot of work on my house, like we are re-staingin the floors a cherry brown color, and we are also getting painters to come and paint the interior of the house. I have light oak furniture, similar to this but a little less golden. http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/yhst-9271787332078_1915_27992966 I do not want to paint my room pink or purple or blue, so i was thinking maybe a bright yellow color, like the color of the yellow locker in this picture on the left http://babydo.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/2007/09/23/highschoollockercolour_3.jpg could you help me? do you think this color would look good in a teen bedroom with that color furniture? do you think that paint color will make the furniture look dirty? or washed out? if so, any color suggestions !?!?! please, greatly appreciated!!

  1. it wont look good wayyyyyy to bright try a light green or even red
  2. I dont think the yellow with the gold furniture would be cute! But thats my opinion! I think orange would be cool! Maybe make like a dark orange if you dont want it bright!!! I like this orange.. http://www.germes-online.com/direct/dbimage/50165774/Orange.jpg I hope this helps and I know ur room will look great whenur done!!! :)
  3. Yellow will not make your furniture dirty/washed out. It'll just look sunshiney, beachy. But if you pair it up with the right bedroom accessories, you can make it modern chic. (i.e. glass ball lamp with a crisp white shade, white chenile/cotton/etc. blanket on the edge of your bed, a few yellow accessories like ceramic balls, pillows, or even some daring black accessories like pillows or curtains with a toile print or flowery print. Don't put too much black or it will make it depressing. Go to your local craft store and find some fabric with black/white/yellow in it and try to make your own pillow.) Hope this helps in creating a cool teen's room.
  4. I think the yellow is too bright. If you really like yellow, try painting the walls green or aqua (Nothing to bold or bright. It won't look good with the furniture.) and brighten it up with this idea from Michael's. All it is is scrapbook paper and styrofoam! That would make the walls pop in certain places!
  5. My advice is to go a color that's like a chartreuse yellow (a yellow/green color). The light wood and yellow walls are too washed out and too much yellow and gold tones....A yellow-greeny color would be good, and you can still stay on the yellow end of it. Also stick with white or cream trim.... Good Luck!!
  6. personally, i don't like that yellow with your furniture. maybe if you can trim you wall with it that would look nice. Maybe a color such as red or even a light green
  7. i like the furniture! really cute! I think a navy blue would look really nice with it. good luck!
  8. Go with a tropical sunset mural and paint the rest of the walls in a yellow/orange color. You can find murals at Americanblindsandwallpaper.com,click on wallpaper and fabric then click on murals.Go to Teensthemes.com,click on color scheme ideas then click on tropical palm trees. If you don't like this idea, this site has a lot of themes and color schemes to choose from,I'm sure you can find something you like, the best part is that if you see something you like, you can buy it,this way you don't have to search the web to find it.Good Luck and I hope this helps.
  9. I really don't think that color would look good with your furniture, but since you said you don't want pink or purple or blue...how about a sage green? "Sage Sweater" by Ralph Lauren is beautiful and so is "Herbal Tea" by Pittsburgh Paints.
