What do I require to network my Virgin media broadband connection ?
At the moment the house has a virgin connection downstairs but I need to extend it into my bedroom how is this done ? There is another pc downstairs just to clarify that point

- Option 1) Call Virgin to install second (or more) connection point Option 2) Buy wired cable router Option 3) Buy wireless cable modem and connect over wireless I would go for option 3) if you will ever decide to add yet another computer or connect while you are in the garden... If you do go that way I suggest you read [a lot] about wireless security and encryption unless you do not mind your neighbours using your connection and you files...

Not sure if u need ethernet cables to plug them into the pc and virgin box. I should think you do but i cant see anything that says it. 2 - Go Wireless. You need a wireless router and a receiver for it. There are 2 types out there. ADSL and Cable. ADSL is for BT phone lines, Cable... well, cable (Fibre optics). So look out for a wireless router for cable. Ive just spotted this on pc worlds website. http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/357897 I think this would be ideal, it has a wireless router which u plug into the virgin box and a usb adaptor which u plug into the pc upstairs. Option 2 is the best route for you in my opinion
- Hello,you did not explain if you have a computer downstairs and a computer/laptop upstairs? If you are thinking just one computer located upstairs then it can either be a very long eithernet cable or buy the white cable that connects modem to wall socket,you can buy this in varied lengths. Or if you have a main computer downstairs and one upstairs a wireless router would solve the issue. You do not have to buy a router from Virginmedia you can shop at a local computer shop or some were like Tesco. I have a very long white cable from wall to modem then I also have a wireless router as I have a few computers connected to my BB. A router means you can connect upto 4 computers via cable connect and others via wireless cards or adaptors. I hope this helps? JB.
