Tips for decorating a 16 year old guys bedroom?
Well I'm moving soon and I want my new bedroom to be more adult. At least less like a kids room anyway. Any tips how I can make a masculine bedroom? I'm buying new furniture when I move because right now my bed is two mattresses on the floor and my dresser is missing some legs. Any ideas for colors and styles and stuff is good. I'm not much into sports but I like video games and stuff. Oh, and I have a leopard gecko so I need to put his tank somewhere lol. Anyway, yeah, any advice is appreciated really, so thanks.

- chick posters...everywhere.
- You should go with earth tones (olive green, browns) for a neutral effect. Also, the typical guy peice of furniture is a futon. Get one.
- get a giant chuck norris poster
- When I think of a guy's bedroom, for some reason I think of dark blue. Maybe you could paint your walls dark blue. Probably a wood dresser. Book cases make you seem smart! (If you are smart, they'll back up your evidence.)
- Plain, simple lines. Dark leather and woods are often associated with masculinity. Think Humphrey Bogart. There are actually furniture lines based after him. Check out Maxim Magazine. Chick posters don't hurt either.
- Why are you sleeping on a mattress on the floor with a dresser with missing legs? Where are you moving to and why do your parents or parent think this is a good room design for you? Email me. I am an interior designer
- Had almost the same problem as you. When I turned 16, I moved to the finished basement. Everything needed to be re-done. I painted one 2 walls a light shade of gray, and 2 walls a darker shade of gray. I went to a Video Game Store closing, and I payed like 25 cents for a dozen posters that they had (if you ask your local videogame store, they might give you something for free). Carpet and bed sheets matched the walls because grey matches with a lot of things they have out there now. I have a black tv stand and a black dresser, and we built shelfs to put DVD's and Videogames on. Try it out.
- I would recommend solid colors either earth tone or dark colors like navy blue etc. That way you can change up your room through the next several years without much effort. You can use a few props like your gecko tank or trophies, pictures, etc. to fit your personality. Have fun with it!
- Browns and blues or browns and greens are huge right now. Depending on your style you could do basic plain with not much design or you could do something that fits your personality showing off some of your talents and inspirations. If you have the money to spend pottery barn has furniture that looks like a locker room which is a totally cool look. You could do a leopard look in the room to match the gecko too.
