  1. ANTIQUES ROADSHOW http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/index.html Take good photos and send them to the desired appraiser. There are those that claim to be appraisers and really are not, use the Better Business Bureau to check them out if you should call one to come to your home. BBB OnLine http://www.bbbonline.org/ Better to be safe than sorry!
  2. Old Wood Market sells antiques and specializes in vintage furniture. The value of the set will include many factors such as condition of the set, how many pieces (2 pieces instead of 5), the name brand of the set if any or if known, what type of wood or iron/brass the set is made of and the detail of the piece. Not knowing where you live, that's always a part of value and bedroom sets are not inexpensive to transport so it's value will be based in part on the cost of living where you live. Essentially, you probably know at whether the set's value is in the range of thousands or several hundred. For a casual value, closed and sold auctions on eBay is quick and won't cost anything. Prices on eBay may be low in an ongoing auction and high prices pieces often have reserves. The second step is, if the prices you see on eBay are high, a certified appraisal should be done. the auctioneer should be professionally certified by CAGA: Certified Appraisers Guild of America. Here's an antique insider's tip: make sure you contact an appraiser, usually an auctioneer, who is based in an antique house (a fixed building). Most auctioneers sell out estates following a death and other times families when moving/downsizing; these auctions will rarely attract bidders looking for fine and collectible artwork and the price at these auctions are often determined by good/bad weather of people wanting to show up. If the piece is worth being appraised, the appraisal will start at $100 and up, so that's why a quick eBay check is a starter. If you hear good news about its' value, have it insured. The value could increase dramatically because of its' condition. good luck - oldwoodmarket http://www.oldwoodmarket.com
