How to Feng Shui my bedroom?
Skip to bottom for short. Two cousins and I are renting out a nice roomy house. Even though i signed everything, I ended up with one of the small bedrooms... oh well. I had a reputation for having very comfortable bedrooms in the past, they've been described as "peaceful", and my favorite "sex chamber". This was all accomplished by luck, as I have no prior interior decorating experience. And I don't want to lose that reputation! The layout of my new bedroom is this: Picture a piece of printing paper, lay it on it's side so it is long left to right. The entrance door is on the bottom right. Closet is on the right wall with mirror sliding doors. Window on the left wall, double paned. Built in shelf in the bottom wall, running almost all across it. The walls and shelf are white, the carpet is dirt/poop brown with hints of red... How do I furnish such an ugly combination?? I was thinking to accent it with green, to give it a "nature" feel... what do you think? Also, I am planning on only putting my bed in there with a couple end tables. I have a huge greenish painting, it's of an old swing set. Very nice. I want to keep that picture if possible. Looking specifically for Feng Shui help(colors, furniture, positions). SORRY THIS IS SO LONG. Thanks!

- If you need fengshui advice, then your details are not enough. You didn't mention about what's your astrology is (in Chinese astrology). Which direction is the bedroom's door facing. It's a house ? What about the main door ? Facing where ? Just from your description, it's very hard to determine.
- I'm a layperson. After I tried to DIY fengshui using Lilian Too's magazine and upset the energy of my place (I broke out in hives on one side of my face, plus other mishaps) I engaged the services of a traditionally trained husband and wife team. It's a meticulous process combining many different schools of fengshui (there are over 20 by my masters' count), tailor made to fit the individual according to their birth details, including birthtime and place. There is NO one-size-fits-all fengshui. How a room 'should' be furnished would depend on which element sector (earth, wood, fire, earth, metal, water) it lies in in the house AND the dominant element of the person staying in it. The person's element may happen to clash with the element of the room. Though this can be adjusted or 'cured' to a certain extent using object placements and such. If you do not wish to engage a fengshui master and you normally rely on 'instinct' to decorate I would say go with it. Instead of listening to too many conflicting suggestions from people who do not know you as you do yourself. Eg. I had no idea of fengshui when I decided on the spot to buy my place - I just felt at home in it - and it turned out I picked a place that matched my energy according to chart calculations.
- I would never feng shui any part of my house. In order to feel at peace in a room.. you must make it yours and yours alone... the things you love.. the way you love seeing them arranged.. are more important than what others "think" or "feel" you should do. The energy you create.. the room you create... the ideas that you create and the feeling you will have when you are done... will be amazing.. you dont need a degree in interior design for what comes naturally to you....
