Decorating teen bedroom?

I am extremely musical, enjoying all types of music and also acting, and I really want to show this when I decorate my new room. However, I also want my room to be like a bedroom should be, cosy and inviting. How can I get a sophisticated style, and yet still show my love for music? Also, any space-saving, or little tips you have will be much appreciated :)

  1. Just paint little music notes in the corners or as a border. Space saving: If you have a dresser, get rid of it. That's what I did. I got this closet organizer and now I can put all my clothes in there.
  2. You could paint music notes on your wall. You can have music related things in your room, like a radio. Also, just make it you. Put the things that you like and make you happy in there. Put some of your favorite colors on the wall, pick out a cozy bed, etc.
  3. HGTV.com is an excellent resource for home decorating. They have tons of examples of finished rooms, load of tips, and lots of "how-to's" when you are feeling creative. It even has a "how to find your style quiz". Its really alot of fun if you are really into decorating and remodeling.
  4. Go Modern. Shelves in odd shapes. ( I have some in the shape of that "L" shaped tetris piece") Bold colors make a statement. Don't be afraid to express yourself. Nothing to sophisticated or it won't be cozy.

  6. A lot of people suggested to paint musical notes on the wall, but I think it would be nicer to find a wallpaper board, like 6 inches to 1 foot wide w/ musical theme drawings and then paint the walls w/ a bold colour that matches the wallpaper board color. To match colors, you can check out the color wheel to help you combine the colors well. Check http://www.colormatters.com/colortheory.html The wallpaper board should be placed around 40 inches from the ground w/ some skinny wood frame on the top and the bottom of the wallpaper board to give it a nice finish touch. About the space, I agree w/ everybody else about the shelves, which being displayed in different heights harmonically could give a nice moviment on the wall of the room, like musical notes waves, like the wallpaper board should have too. A touch of class, harmony, moviment, softness...that's how a musician room should be in my opinion. I hope this can help! good luck in your project!
  7. Fill the walls with shelves with all your cd's, sheet music, dvds, music books, so they're all on display, if you're a good artist or you know somebody that is, draw guitars, and piano keys on the walls... but like artistically, like bendy.. you know? Get a red carpet, to tie in with your acting!
