  1. There must surely be some thrift stores in your area.
  2. Ikea...decent furniture for cheap. They also deliver by mail. http://ikea.com
  3. I don't know where you live but if there's a store near you called Rent-A-Center, they are fairly affordable. You don't need to have good credit either and they always have nice stuff. Also if you do end up going there ask to see some of the furniture in the back, it's usually cheaper because the fabric is torn or something which can be easily covered or hidden. Another option is Goodwill. I got my bed from there, it was a matching mattress and box spring and they looked almost new. And this was 4 years ago and they are still in great shape.
  4. Look online to see if you have a "Habitat for Humanity" store in your area. The money that is spent there helps people in the area. Usually, they have an expensive part in the front and an inexpensive area in the back of the store. Everything is donated. I needed a small desk for my craft room and I went to the one here where I live last week and bought a desk that looks brand new (perfect for what I needed it for) for only $25. I was lucky because I just happened to go on a "half off the price" day. Still, at regular prices the used stuff is pretty reasonable and you're also helping out those in your community. If you happen to go in and at first you see all new, expensive stuff - don't freak out. They usually have two sections. Real fancy rich looking stuff in the front (that's new) and used stuff in the back.
  5. Check out your local Freecycle. http://www.freecycle.org/
