Decorating a teen girls bedroom (storage is an issue)?

OK, I like kinda punky things, but this room is really quite small. I have quite a lot of things, so storage really is a problem. I MIGHT be able to fit in a small double bed, but it would need to have storage. I don't mind single, as long as there's lots of storage... Storage is, as you might have guessed, the biggest thing. I can repaint, but not recarpet. The carpet is a kinda tan/brown, but I'm not adverse to getting a rug. I can't paint the walls black, as the room is small. Can't think of anything else to add right now, but has anyone got any suggestions as to furniture or themes, etc? Thanks. =) Development on the paint thing - apparantly I'm not allowed ANY black walls, at all. =/

  1. you could get a double bed with drawers underneath already fitted or buy some of those storage boxes on wheels to slide under the bed
  2. how about painting one of the walls black and the other ones another of your fave colour then you still have a bit of what you want but your room wont seem smaller. if you don't need a double bed then theres really no point in getting on just now as it will just take up more room. i used to have loads of stuff but i got everything out and chucked away everything i no longer used or liked away and it gave me loads more space.
  3. The best place for storage solutions is Ikea. If you don't have one by your house, their website is www.ikea.com. They cater to people with limited space. You can request a free catalogue on their website too... and TRUST ME - There are some great ideas in there... You should be able to find lots of decorating, furniture & room-design inspiration. For color... I would go with something neutral on all walls, and paint one accent wall any dark color that you'd like - - That one wall should add some depth. Good luck!! Another idea that would give the illusion of more space, is place a large framed mirror above your bed or dresser. If not one large mirror, then a set of 3 matching mirrors or something similar. Also... extra lighting may help. Oh and StArZ is right... Do an internet search for wall decals or even wall murals... and you'll get some really cool stick on designs for your wall. Very cool to say the least!

  6. you seem like you know that darker colors make rooms seen smaller, and lighter colors bigger. so since it's a small room i'd go with maybe a bright blue, pink, green. all are punky. hang records on the wall... like old school literally records, in frames or not. some beds come with drawers in the bottom but are more pricey, so you could get some bins that slide under, and they do have ones with wheels. all black furniture would be cool. or if you are serious about the space thing you could get a bunkbed that has a desk w drawers on bottom, or one of the couch on bottom ones would add a nice comfyness to the room. good luck decorating!!
  7. well, what color is your backboard and your bed cuz say it is a nice bed, then you may want to paint the wall behind your bed a color that will make it stand out. JC penny has a lot of nice teen bedding that you may like. I am redoing my room in blue and green... if you like.. and you could paint the other walls a fav color or paint half the wall one and the other half a different color. do you have a closet? you may wanna paint that also!
