"per" means divide and "cent" means 1 hundred. so 8 percent is 8 divide by 100 is equal to 0.08. 1. "Discount" means deduct from original price. Then 8% of 17,500 is 0.08 * 17,500 = 1,400 and 17,500 - 1,400 = 16,100 2. discount is 4% of Price and equal to 11.96 0.04 * Price = 11.96 Price = 11.96 / 0.04 Price = 299 3. You do the rest.
