Need some paint color ideas for baby's room?
We have what I consider a very small 3 bedroom house with two bedrooms upstairs side by side. One is our master bedroom and the other will be the baby's room. I want to re-paint both rooms in the same color to make it easier but am having a lot of difficulty deciding what color to go with. There are just so many possibilities and I get overwhelmed. The baby is going to be a boy but I don't want to paint the room blue. So far, I have been considering a light goldish color, a sage-ish green or possibly a cream color with one faint blue wall in each room. I would like something neutral but not too dull. Just reaching out there for some ideas/suggestions.

- i dont think you will end up liking the same color as a baby boy, but i suggest yellow walls with a light blue ceiling for the boy
- I would definitely do a green, but a brighter tone than a sage. Light aqua is also a nice color and easy to decorate with as all color woods are complimented by it.
- I think your best bet is to go for cream. That way, it is a neutral colour so will go with anything in the room. Also, as you say the house is quite small, a light colour on the walls will make the rooms appear bigger. You can always add interest to the walls with pictures.
- Lemon or light green
- Years ago when my kids were born (early '80s), everything I read said to paint baby's rooms yellow. Light, med., etc., was not important, but yellow was. The idea behind the color was that yellow would stimulate their brains as they grew. Well I figured, it can't hurt. I'd like smart kids. So both of them, my son and my daughter grew up in yellow rooms till they got old enuf to request their own choices. And they both turned out super smart. I do believe there were a few other factors involved, :>), but it sure can't hurt.
- What type of bedding do you have in your bedroom. It seems that you need to have something to go off of. Maybe select bedding for you and him, then select a color that will go for both. Here are some ideas for sophisticated nursery that may tie in better with your bedroom: http://www.ehow.com/how_4662009_decorate-sophisticated-elegant-nursery.html
- First of all, a lot of the paint selections we have in our area right now are "tones". Tones have white to fade out the color but, they also have some black in them to mellow them out. "Pastels" on the other hand are color simply washed out with white; they are lighter than tones. I am not a paint color expert but, it seems that those paints that are toned down with midnight blue remain lighter and more intense than those with brown or black. And, those that have a kiss of some type of red are also brighter and more intense. Some of the soutwestern, adobe sand type colors remain reasonably intense and nuetral. Further, they alight differently in different levels of light and different sun lights. Pastel peach is also an interesting color. It is amazingly neutral with some color. And, it too tends to change colors with differing light. On your sage-ish green - if you want it to remain more alive, try it more on the pastels and less on the tones. When growing up, green was probably my least favorite color. But, either I've changed or the greens have changed. - The pale greens can be amazing nuetral, calming, and even alive.
- play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to help you imagine how the colors will look together. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/ I think "ruskin room green" (# 0042) might be a good choice. You can take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website: http://www.roomvues.com/ You can get color suggestions & for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
