I have cable modem in my bedroom on one computer. I have another computer that I want to hook up somehow into ?

the TV in the living room so that I can use my TV as a monitor for movies on the net and Window's Media Player for live streaming sites. Is this possible and would it be expensive to do this? My TV is a 32" Sony and it is about 5 years old, not the flat screen type but probably with inputs into the back. Anyone who can help tell me if this can be done would be appreciated.

  1. You would need a router like belkins to hook it up to ur other computer. Its not very expensive maybe $20.
  2. I'll try to help you! I answered another question like this five minutes ago, I'll copy and paste it: If it's an HDTV, here's what you do: 1. Look on the back of the TV for a VGA port. It should be blue and look like a vertically stretched D, but it can be a different color. Make sure this exists before going to the next step. Otherwise, follow the instructions for S-Video. 2. Go to Wal Mart or Radioshack or somewhere like that. Ask for a VGA Male-Male cable. The connectors on each end should be identical and shaped like the one on the back of the TV. They come in different lengths, so get one long enough to span between your TV and where you want your laptop to be. 3. Get your laptop. Screw one end of the VGA cable into the port on the back of the TV. Put the other end into the port on the left side of your laptop - I think it's black, but I don't know. 4. Turn on your TV and put it on VGA or PC. 5. Restart your laptop. Or turn it on. Depending on whether you use Windows or a Un*ix based operating system, you might need to log in as well. It may take a few minutes for the TV screen to show your laptop screen. Connect with S-Video 1. Check the back of your TV for a round, black, flat port. If it does not exist, you're out of luck. 2. Go to Wal Mart or Radioshack or somewhere like that and get an S Video cable long enough to span between the back of your TV and where you want the laptop to be. 3. Plug the S Video cable into the port on the back of the TV, then into the port on the right hand side of your laptop. It's near the USB ports. 4. Turn on your TV. Put it on the input for your S Video port. It's usually Video 1 or Composite 1 but I don't know. 5. Turn on your laptop. Depending on whether you use Windows or a Un*x based operating system, you might need to log in as well. 6. Wait a few minutes and see if anything shows up on your screen. If it does, it won't be anywhere near as clear as the laptop's screen, only VGA cables can make it look normal. Flip through the TV's inputs if nothing happens.
