UK only please. Can anyone recommend a good freeview box to get that has the good channels?

I am living back at home and can't get Sky/Virgin media in my bedroom so wondered if there were any good freeview boxes out at the moment? Thanks

  1. All Freeview boxes get the same channels. Also, all freeview boxes can get 'Top Up' TV as well (that is, extra channels you pay for). What might affect the channels you get is signal reception, but that's nothing to do with the freeview box. If you do have a poor reception you will need a booster aerial. The higher the db (decibel) the better - aim for AT LEAST 40 db boost. Wait until you've got the freeview box plugged in before deciding if you need a booster. Channels such as BBC4 and Film Four (a channel well worth having) seem to have poorest reception. If you can't get them then you need a booster. But, like I say, that's not the fault of the freeview box, it's due to the fact that you are in a poor reception area. Such is life. As for which box is best? Well, that depends. For my preference small is always a good thing. As is a remote control (which I think they all come with). Cost is also a matter. Have a look in the Argos catalogue (you can view it online) and make a decision from there. Make sure you get one with a scart lead, or you'll have to buy one of those as well, which will hike up the price. You shoudl be OK for something in the £20-25 range.
