I don't like having a TV in the bedroom - is that strange?

I'm a media junkie and a cinephile - I love good television programs (big fan of HBO), cinema and quality news. I even study media and psychology. Yet I cannot stand watching TV in the bedroom or watching it as soon as I wake up. I prefer a good book!

  5. No, I have a Tv in my bedroom too and sometimes I don't like it either.
  6. nothing wrong with that...bedrooms are for sleep and relaxation and alone time
  7. well that's your own personal preference, some (probably most) people like a tv in their bedroom but if you don't, that's you--it's not weird.
  8. Thats up to you, I like tv in bed it knocks me out. I also read before bed but that just keeps me up depending what im reading
  9. SOME PEOPLE LIKE TV IN BED SOME DON'T.............. I LOVE IT, DON'T EVEN WATCH THE TELLY IN THE LOUNGE!
  10. same here too love a good book-tv is out here in living room most of the time I just have it one for the noise.
  11. Bedroom should be for sleeping and sex only. I forbid any tv in my bedroom.
  12. NO it's not strange; It's just a preference...Like for example everyone has their own preference in what they want in this room or that room..etc.
  13. If it's strange, you've got company - I don't have a t.v. in my bedroom either, by choice.
  14. You put TV in its proper place and that's a great thing.
  15. that's good to hear. books require more active attention than other media. it's good to read.
  16. we don't have tv in the house at all.
  17. I am exactly the same I hate tv's in there, I love my books before I go to sleep.
  18. I think that.................IDK, but yea a good book is good.
  19. your strange like me. ide prefer tv in bedroom though(im not that strange)
  20. I dont think its strange to not want to have a tv in your bedroom if you dont want it who cares but its definatly not strange =]
  21. You don't? Then I'm not moving in!!!
  22. nope not strange at all, at least i hope not cuz im the same way...bedroom is for cuddling with my fiance, sleeping, relaxing...reading i agree. i like silence when i first first wake up, for like maybe half an hour then im ready for music or tv or whatever
  23. No that's not strange. An bedroom it a place to sleep and to make love. It's not a place to ACTH t.v.
  24. I imagine it is either because your mother forbode the television to be in your room when you were a child or you cherish your sleep. Not weird at all. I wish I had the self discipline to keep the tv out of mine.
  25. Good for you. There are tv screens everywhere even at the gas pump. Some places need to be screen-free.
  26. Well good for you! Reading in the bedroom is one of my hobby too. Watching television or other movies are more better in the living room or at the cinema.
  27. No. It is actually healthier for you and your marriage to not have one in the bedroom! Of course, these days people think there should be TVs everywhere.
  28. a little weird, but only because you are a media junkie....although i dont like tv in the morning either....and i hate watching the news altogether!
  29. I've never had a TV in my bedroom. Beds are for sleeping and sex. If I watch TV in bed I'll wind up with crumbs in my sheets when I get the munchies.
  30. I agree on the fact that no tv means more time having sex
  31. i think not having a t.v. in the bedroom is awesome because if your married you get major quality time together time to snuggle and time to talk a special time to really get to know eachother better.if your single don't sweat it you need to get away a from the everyday hell on earth more power to you.so just kick back and relax and read on.
  32. No not at all
  33. i don't think it's strange. it's actually probably a good thing. personally, i like to watch tv in my room during the day so that i can lay down and relax. i would just lay on the couch and watch, but my couch isn't comfortable enough for that. in fact, it's a bit painful to lay on my couch. also, the noise and glow from the tv helps me sleep sometimes.
  34. That's not strange at all. It's actually better that you don't have a t.v. in your bedroom. I think t.v.'s should be kept outside of the bedroom, it's a distraction. You fall asleep faster and longer, I think. A lot of times people tend to leave the t.v. on even after they've fallen asleep, WHAT A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY!
  35. Not strange, smart. Studies have shown that the best way to get a good night's sleep is to use the bedroom for only one purpose - sleeping. Otherwise it simply becomes another room in which to do other things. Well, maybe there are two uses but the second one is personal. I'd even forgo the book even though I enjoy reading. Go to bed and go to sleep. Wake up and get up.
  36. I feel the same way. I read a lot in bed but if there's something I want to see on T.V., I go in the other room and park myself and watch it.
  37. So u don,t like watching in the bedroom? I had u down as a woman who likes anything in the bedroom!!!!
  38. I don't allow TV in the bedroom either... I find it causes feedback on the video cameras. ;)
