  3. Well I have a few ideas, since we have been working on some rooms here. One idea we had that has worked really well is using chalkboard paint. First we used it in the butler pantry and painted one section of a divided door. We use that one to post the upcoming weekly menu. We had some left over so we are using it one of the kids rooms to make a chalk board she can draw on and have people sign when they come over and draw on if they want to. We took some of that big sidewalk chalk from the Dollar Tree and tied some twine on and attached with a big colorful tac, also from the Dollar Tree. Looks so cute! This has been a lot of fun for her and her friends and cousins. Also, we got some really pretty ribbon boards that we hung in her room so she can take pics of her friends, family, the dogs, the mouse, cards, notes, whatever she wants, and put them up between the ribbons and she can change it, rearrange it as much as she likes. She is 15 and isn't into posters very much, but really likes putting up her art she does, and craft projects, so we got some really big arty looking clips at the Dollar Tree and took some small sturdy nails and hung them up about 2 feet apart in an even line and she can clip her pictures, art posters, cards, letters and so on up there as she please. She also hung a calendar and a white board to write herself notes. Sometimes, when I go up there, she might have HAPPY NEW YEAR written on it, and other times it might be DON'T FORGET THE PARTY ON FRIDAY! It has done wonders to help get her organized, she isn't getting in trouble for making marks all over the walls, and she can have friends and family put their stuff up when they come over, which makes showing off her room a lot more fun! She loves it. We did it in colors she likes right now and will stay fresh for a while (sort of a celery green, yellow and white) but you can use any colors she likes. I also made some cushions for the big wicker chest in a fabric that has all her colors in it, and she uses that to store her seasonal clothes or blankets in and uses it to sit on and put her shoes on, or extra company seating. I liked all the ideas and have used some downstairs too. I use my ribbon board to hold receipts for returning things, for a needed note to be taken with me to the doctors, for my tax bill due in one month and so on. And I used some of those pretty clips from the Dollar Tree for hanging her prettiest art work for a week, before letting her have it back. Its a lot of fun and you can change it alot EVERY DAY if you want. Her friends and family love to go see what she has up this week, so its made her really enjoy showing of her room alot nicer! Hope this helps you! Good luck!
  4. WHy not go to the hardware store and ask them if they have any mistints paint that was mixed but the customer did not like it or they did it wrong they reduce these paints in price. Work form there
  5. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to help you imagine how the colors will look together. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/ I think "pearl gray" (# 0052) might be a good choice. You can take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website: http://www.roomvues.com/ You can get color suggestions & for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
  6. I like periwinkle blue best for a girl's room. It's not blue, not lavender, but both and looks great with greens and white or purples and browns and white too. Here are some pics that might inspire you: http://www.morganswaybandb.com/images/periwinkleblueroom.jpg http://www.bedandbreakfast.com/inns/new-orleans-la-inn-maisonperrier-photo.jpg Before choosing the paint color, buy the bedding and choose the shade from it: http://www.target.com/Bedding-Collection-Aqua/dp/B000PH0DGE/qid=1233961580/ref=br_1_4/180-8115749-0290230?ie=UTF8&node=14122151&frombrowse=1&pricerange=&index=tgt-mf-mv&field-browse=14122151&rank=pmrank&rh=&page=5 http://www5.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6E.aspx?DeptID=59474&CatID=60551&GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=1466cb8&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CMID=external|59488&Fltr=&Srt=&QL=F&IND=2&CmCatId=external|59488|60551 Aqua and purple look great together too: http://www5.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6E.aspx?DeptID=59474&CatID=60551&GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=1418eed&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CMID=external|59488&Fltr=&Srt=&QL=F&IND=24&CmCatId=external|59488|60551 http://www5.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6E.aspx?DeptID=59474&CatID=60551&GrpTyp=ENS&ItemID=14a7515&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CMID=external|59488&Fltr=&Srt=&QL=F&IND=19&CmCatId=external|59488|60551 Just don't choose pink because she hate it in a few years!
