What wall color for a master bedroom?
My finance and I are currently building a house. I am trying to determine how to decorate our rooms. We have picked out this type of bedding from Macy's and are trying to determine what color to paint the walls. Any suggestions? http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=358248&CategoryID=12814

- Since it's Black and White Any colour would do. Make sure it is a light, pastel colour, those are the kinds you won't regret. Maybe a tan colour would work, or light blue. Mine is light blue and white, it is relaxing and country-like. Just make sure it's light, and have fun with it. =]
- Is your furniture dark like the picture? I'll tell ya, it looks pretty striking against the wall color in the picture. If I had that set I would match it to the lightest blue on the pillows, especially if I had dark furniture. The contrast really sets it off.
- It does depend if you already have accessories to go with it and if there is going to be carpet or wooden floors, as well as lighting from the windows, as it does change paint colours depending on the day's lighting....but I think I would go with a dark burgundy or dark green; colours that look great with the dark blue of the bedding...or if you want to keep things light, stick to white and get filmy light curtains to continue that ocean feel....with nice classic oak wood furniture....Course, red is a passionate energetic colour...if u are newly living together you might want the added energy of a nice red :) ..better if the blue was black, but it is so dark I think it could work.
- The bedding is very classy. My first thought was to make the accent wall dark blue and the other three the light blue in the comforter. However, that said, it would really depend on your headboard. If it is dark, it might not work as well to put it against a dark blue wall. If it is dark woods, I would make all four walls the light blue in the comforter. I think that would be so striking. I think to put any other color on the wall would not be as nice since you have three colors already in your bedding. Good luck with your new house and upcoming wedding. This is the time of your life. Enjoy!
- You have to think about the drapery and whatever else is in the room. When I get stumped I blend the colors in a colorwash. Bright white, lavbender and someother collor probably an light earthtone might be a good place to try. Find a piece of art and tie them all together.
- Honestly I like the blue in the picture, it is calming and deep. Maybe a rich purple? I'm against pastels with that set. Don't go too dark just go for medium rich.
- I like the color in the picture, but maybe a little lighter. Gray would work too.
- play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to help you imagine how the colors will look together. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/ I think "swanky gray" (# 6261) might be a good choice. You can take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website: http://www.roomvues.com/ You can get color suggestions & for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
