What colour should I paint my bedroom walls?
My husband and I bought this contemporary bed set just before christmas. The sheets are satin black, with matching pillow cases and the blanket has lots of horizontal stripes that are varying shades of black and grey. We were going to paint our bedroom walls a very light grey to match it, and then have our cherry wood furniture, plants, and photographs to add colour to the room. Well, a member of our church bought us this beautiful bedset for christmas. It's chocolate with some gold swirly-flowery looking things on it, chocolate sateen sheets, and comes with the fancy decorative pillows. It really is a beautiful set that I absolutely love, but we literally just bought a bedset. I don't want to get rid of either of them, and I don't want to put one in storage until we're "ready" for it, so I'm wondering if there is a wall colour that will match both the black and grey contemporary bedspread, and the chocolate and gold swirly bedspread these are all good suggestions, but the thing is..the black and grey bedspread is striped with several different shades of grey all through it. Every stripe is a different shade, so I'm hesitant to mess with warmer colours like orange or red because it seems like a solid wall of that colour would clash with all the different shades of stripes. Also, someone asked about this...the chocolate bedspread is solid chocolate, with the exception of some gold swirls..there aren't any other colours in that bedspread.

- I would try for a taupe color, sort of a cool beige on the color wheel. It's fairly neutral. I would go to your local home improvement/paint store and grab a bunch of swatches and see which looks good with both. It's easy to talk about what would look good, but you don't really know until the actual color is on the wall.
- Well it sounds like you could make your walls any color exempting the neutrals. I really like a burnt reddish orange, light blue, or even yellow. Your best bet is to paint it a color.
- Red would go nicely with both and it would give your room a rich color.
- I would suggest picking out an accent color from the chocolate bedspread or pillows - is it just gold color, nothing else? Then I might suggest a a sort of warm deep beige color on the walls. Brown, gold, black and gray are all neutrals, so if there are any other colors in the pillows or bedspread, it would go with it all, but if there are no other colors, I might even suggest a color, a serene, light green perhaps, as it would go with the earthy tones of chocolate and gold, but also would go just as well with the black/gray and the cherry wood would play nicely against it.
- For me(what I think okay) this are the colors compatible to the tyre colors gray, black and brown: orange ish pink flesh/peach white apple green or used stripes or a. COmbination of colors from list Here the list on the other hand that is compatible with single colors: A.) gray Blue Pink Orange Green Black B.) black Red Orange Pink White Pretty much all C.) brown Orange Pink Red Apple green White Yellow I'm not realy confident you'll like the combinations I gave coz pretty much it's from a girls view... Don't know if your husband would like it...
- I agree with Jill J. Taupe is an excellent choice. It's a combination of grey and beige and will go very nicely with either set of bedding. The plants are a vital source of balance in the whole picture which sounds lovely.I would use white sheers on the windows to bring in some light to this rather dark but restful color scheme. My congrats. for your painting of a vivid picture with your description.
- I would paint your walls the lightest shade of grey on the comforter that would not make the walls look white. I would look for gold and chocolate colored accents, picture frames, vases so that when you use the chocolate bedding, these colors are incorporated into your room.
- Light green.. my first impression was that this would be horrible, but once I decorated with it, it was awesome! Do you ever watch The Office? It's the same color as Michael's office. Check out the colors of the walls in the background- http://www.nbcuniversalstore.com/img/product/resized/00020003-485090_400.jpg My bedroom color is the same, and chocolate is perfect for it. Also I have a cherry bedroom set and it matches great with it! The people before me had black furniture and it looked really good also.
- play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to help you imagine how the colors will look together. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: http://www.sherwin.com/visualizer/ I think "fireweed" (# 6328) might be a great choice. You can take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website: http://www.roomvues.com/ You can get color suggestions & for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
- a nice navy blue or a dark brown would look nice.
