  1. Many routers will let you define time/usage limits based on MAC address. It's not a fool proof solution, but will stop most kids.
  2. I know someone who does this, but I don't know how it works. Sorry.
  3. Would it be better to hold a respectable meeting with your kids and have a discussion on set quiet times in the house and explain to them they must sleep or they will become very ill and not be able to concentrate on their school work resulting in poor exam results.
  4. This can be done thro your router in the Firewall section. OR A better way would be to take the router, stick below your pillow. OR Buying Parental Control software at your local IT shop. If you can, here are the instructions for controlling access thro your router. Good Luck Plug in your Ethernet cable between your computer and the Router. Connect to the configuration page on the router by typing in your Routers IP address in the Address bar of Internet Explorer, this address can be found in your documentation, normally looks like :- 192.168.2.1 - just type the address - nothing else When your connected Look for settings etc..... Client IP filters The Router can be configured to restrict access to the Internet, e-mail or other network services at specific days and times. Restriction can be set for a single computer, a range of computers, or multiple computers. To restrict Internet access to a single computer for example, click "Add PC" enter the description and IP address range of the computer you wish to restrict access to in the "Client PC IP Address" fields. Next select the Service that you want to block by clicking on "Blocking". Click "OK" ". The computers at the IP address range you specified will now be blocked from Internet access. URL Blocking To configure the URL Blocking feature, specify the websites (www.somesite.com) and or keywords you want to filter on your network. Click "Apply" to activate the change. To complete this configuration, you will need to create or modify an access rule in the "Access Control" section. To modify an existing rule, click the "Edit" option next to the rule you want to modify. To create a new rule, click on the "Add PC" option. From the "Access Control Add PC" section check the option for "WWW with URL Blocking" in the Client PC Service table to filter out the websites and keywords specified. Schedule Rule To configure the Schedule Rule, specify the Name, Comment, Start Time and End Time that you want to filter on your network. This page defines schedule rule names and activates the schedule for use in the "Access Control" page.
  5. this is a rather hard thing to do, but you could try one of a few things. if you have your computer on at night, you could set a program to send shutdown requests to the childrens computers, or you could send "taskkill" things to the msn exe however they will probably just use web messenger. you could set the login hours for there user accounts on there computers. and then Schedule logoff at 10 pm you could have a look at your router and see if you are able to find the script that gets run when u save your settings, and inject your values into it and then schedule that script to be run at 10pm then the script with the values to re enable the wireless at say 9am or something like that. this is a hard task if you want the kids to be able to use there computers but not msn. if you dont mind keeping the computer off you could add a little program into all users start up to check if its past 10pm if so shutdown, so that way the computer will simply boot then shutdown as soon as it logs in. those are a few ways of doing it, however most of them require a bit of programming knowledge or at least batching/web design
  6. obviously the router is plugged into your wall in the living room? erm, just take the mains plug out at night and take it with you to your bedroom
