Ideas for bedroom furniture?

I recently moved into my new house and painted my bedroom (one wall deep plumy-purple and the other three are lavender. I don't have any bedroom furniture and am looking into buying it. What color should I get? White? Dark wood? Black? I love the look of black and a dark brown wood, but am afraid it will make my room look too small & dark, especially with the dark plum wall. What color should I get furniture? Any modern, stylish ideas?

  1. I like dark wood furniture.
  2. I don't see a problem with a deep exspresso coffee colored line of furniture. In fact, since it's a neutral, it will go with anything. You can easily keep the room light and airy because only one wall is a deep plumy-purple, the other three are a lavendar, making it light. So opt for the dark wood you like and keep the bedding light and more contemporary in style, since dark wood marries this style quite well. Here are a few suggestions as far as furniture and bedding go. And don't forget to add lots of silver accents to the room - vases, frames, mirrors, lamps, wastebasket, etc. These will reflect light and keep the room flowing. Keep from buying a full headboard. Instead, opt more along the lines of something that lets light thru, such as a slat headboard. http://furniturefromhome.com/images/store/862-1/760x600/image.jpg http://www.moderneurodesign.com/images/products/GF-Camilla-Bedroom.jpg Aim to keep the headboard low and avoid a footboard if you can. It's best to have a bed that stands on feet as opposed to a platform bed or a full side bed. Having legs without letting the bedding go down to the floor gives you the illusion of space. Make it so that the room is minimalist with a hint of zen and you'll be fine. Consider opting for bedding with a hotel look: http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=250526&CategoryID=12814 http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=346857&CategoryID=12814 http://www.wshome.com/products/p270/index.cfm http://www.nextag.com/hotel-collection-bedding/products-html Or stick with light colored bedding. By doing this, you'll be just fine and the room won't be too dark. http://www.bedbathstore.com/jateabeenbyl.html?id=jateacosetqu http://www.justhomedecor.com/estoreusa/home.php?linen+bedding#
  3. I think a medium or light wood would look very nice with the plum and lavender. Also, light wood does not show dust as quickly as darker woods. White furniture may look alittle too bright with the walls and black would definitely be too dark.
