How can i turn the basement into my perfect teen bedroom?

I want to move into my basement and my parents are giving me permission. Im a teenage girl. I want to paint it diffrent colors and i cant decide which. I only want to have a bathroom and a bedroom. I still don't want it to cost that much. Any suggesstions? Im not sure which color to choose. I want something that is pastel and cheerful. And i have to use old furniture. How do i make it work?

1. It sounds like you are on your own here. Now is the time to start making decisions and mistakes on your own. If you don't like what you did the first time just redo it. If I told you how to do it it would be my room. If I met you I would like to see what you are like as your own person.
2. k this is how i did my daughters bedrms in the basement....#1.I hung silk fabric on alll the walls and it looks like a harram....th e other rm I painted white and put red, white, pink and black bedding and accesories...kind of an ohhlla feel....painted all the old furniture high gloss black
3. You need to think about the things you like. You know what do you want to see everyday. If the basement doesn't have windows you may want to us light colors to keep a cheerful lighter feeling. My teenage girls like to go to our local thrift stores to pick out things they like then they have me get paint for them and we paint them to look new. You can even rewire lamps that you find there if it is something you think would be cool in your room. We usually will go early in the day bring home our finds leave them outside and work on them, wash them, paint them and then they are like new bringing them into the house. You might want to get some books on decorating from the library for some ideas too. Rummage sales are good to get furniture like dressing tables for cool make up storage.The main thing is make sure you can live with it for a while.
4. I suggest you take some time and watch some programs on HGTV "Design on A Dome" and "Design Cents" will be a huge help to you. Promise.
