I need some suggestions for my wall color in my master bedroom?
We are tearing down the old plaster walls in our master bedroom and are putting up new drywall. I don't have a clue as to what color to make the walls. We have one large window covered with drapes that are a deep red and our bedding has different shades of red, orange and gold in it. We like these colors but don't necessarily want them on the wall. We would like a coordinating color for the walls. I want it to be calming but romantic as well. Does anyone have any suggestions. The rest of our house has reds, greens, and neutral colors, if that helps. I forgot to add that the room is 10'10" by 13'5" and has 9 ft ceilings. It is not a huge masterbedroom. We live in a bungalow style home.

- something like pale green pale blue, deep purple, or a rich red
- brown :) it will look really Moroccan
- black
- lime green :)
- brown
- You should work with the big window! When you open your curtains, what colors do you see? Is it mostly sky? Then go with a lighter shade of blue. Is it greenery? Then go with a lighter shade of green...and so on! HAve fun
- the color is kinda what you prefer but one tip. darker colors make the room look smaller. so if you chose a lighter, neutral color, it will make the room look bigger.
- This would be perfect with those colors. Check it out. http://media.photobucket.com/image/khaki%20paint%20color/musicmanhoutx/DSCF0001.jpg
- I would go with something like a creamy white...not too bright but light then you can make any changes you like and it should work.
- different colors in stripes or probably green or black or red
- I think you should stick to natural colors. I think a light tan color would look lovely. :)
- GRAY! So I think if you have the reds, and oranges and golds, you should put a gray on the walls. Kind of stoney, sophisticated, silvery, simple gray. It would look really nice :)
- Pick a color that is in your bedding that is not used as much as others, like maybe the gold, but tone it down a bit if its too bold for you. Its also a romantic color, and do accessories in other color that match a are in the bedding too, but don't have too many colors or it will look tacky.
- You can use a pale lemon yellow that would coordinate well with your current color theme.
- a real deep coffee color check out the color visualizer at sherwin-williams.com maybe hot cocoa or burnished brandy something dark and rich.
- As a decorator, cum medical gal, cum astrologer, cum gal Friday, I can honestly tell you that--according to Trading Places--your best bet would be to introduce greenery for balance and choose a basic neutral for the walls. Too much of one color would be overdoing it. Why not go to your favorite paint store (I like Sherwin Williams), get a selection of beiges and varying shades of taupe, which would be an awesome combination. Discuss your choice with your nearest and dearest (except a man--unless he really is a decorator). Mothers and other women relatives with whom you have a good relationship would be a great starting point. However, you are the one who must live with your choice. If you choose a shade that is too light, the red can appear a mite gaudy, so the shade really matters. Is your bedroom in the north end where little light penetrates or do you have a sunny room? The sunnier the room, the darker you can go, as a general rule. Aim for medium tones. I believe you will be happiest with your choice, and here's a great kick-off start:
- Ancient Roman colors are beautiful
- Why not put up a mural?
