Decorating A teen bedroom?
Hey I wanna know what I can decorate my new room at my new house with. I basically have the cellar to myself which is my room which is pretty good sized. And two other small rooms. Plus a closet. I was thinking of making one room into a movie room and make it completly dark and putting the T.V with all the DVDs and stuff in there and then have pictures of like Merilyn Monroe/James Dean/Star Wars/ random movie photos on the wall to set the scene. Then the other small room is going to be a small bathroom that I dont know how to decorate yet. Then my room will just have my bed and books the small computer dest and a make-up birrow and dresser. There will be alot of wall space so how can I decorate? ANy of the rooms? I want some fun ideas to make my room unique like the picture buliten board and picture clothes line and glow in the dark start. What other accesories can I put in it? I'm a teenage girl...more details below I can be really preppy and girly sand I love shopping all the time. But I'm also verry guy-ish and I sometimes just like to hang out and be alone. I love my privacy. I like to read. I <3 my friends and family and memories. I love nature it makes me happy. Cool lights are fun. I like to have things verry dark. I love music, all types from Eminem to Billy Joel to Taylor Swift and Alanis Morissette and the Corrs. Every type of music I love. Especially old music. I love dance and basketball. I dont want a single theme for my room. I was thinking of painting the walls green pink and blue really bright. What else could I put? I also love art and anime. I enjoy playing video games and being outside. I shop at hollister and TJ max. lol I have a really strange outgoing personality and am really loud around people. Not shy at all What are some fun ways I can decorate any of the 3 rooms?

- Make the bedroom restful with peaceful colours... green, blue, or pale colours that like faint pinks, apricot or so forth. Put effort into making it the most beautiful dreamy place possible, with sheer fabrics and silky cushions and spot just for meditating in. Avoid too much electrical energy in this room, or too many mirrors and lights. Keep information and pictures to a minimum - this the completely simple, YOU room. (If this room is really big, you could partition it with a screen and have a section for dolling yourself up - makeup area, mirrors, dresser, pics of your idols). Make another room the work room, with a place to write, to hang out, watch dvd's, study etc. Put lots of colour into it, golds, reds and lots of pictures and favorite quotes and information all over the walls. When you want action and emotion you go here! Active colours will help you think (gold and yellow) and keep burning the midnight oil if you need to (reds/oranges). My main advice is to keep your zones separate, that way you will feel you have a really rich environment that you can move between. Otherwise it will be a big mess, no fun. Contrast is the key!
- My dad bought me a standard size sheet of plywood, 4 x 8', I think, and glued cork board onto it. Then attached the plywood to the wall. It was great. I could change my posters and other items as often as I wanted with push pins. This was just basic cork. You can go wild and have the plywood cut to a name or design. Also you could wrap the cork squares in fabric or paint them. Later I lived in a room I couldn't paint, so I used curtains. Ikea has Dignitet curtain wire & ring clips. The wire is about 16 feet long. You could use flat sheets, light weight curtains or shower curtains. The fabric can be a divider in your room, along a wall for a color difference that week or you can put up a nature poster and frame it with the curtain. Kind of like you're looking outside. There are many different styles of LED rope lights. They're energy efficient and are cool to the touch. They can highlight shelves, closets, or even nature posters. You could put them low on the wall in your "movie" room to guide your walking. You should get a basket ball hoop with a wooden backboard. Paint it purple or blue and put it over your clothes hamper. You should have 2 clothes hampers, one for regular clothes and one for delicate items. Buy a bunch of frames in the same color all black or all gold then bunch your frames on one wall as a feature. If you collect items, put them together in one area. If you spread them throughout your room, it would look "busy." As for the bathroom, I would recommend that you paint the wall in front of the toilet your favorite color. The other 3 walls could be the same or a complementary color. Go to department stores and find a colorful shower curtain that you like and design your bathroom around the curtain (& accessories).
