Does anyone know if I can make a bedroom into a bathroom in a condo?

I want to buy a condo, but it doesn't have enough bathrooms. I don't need the media room and am wondering if it can be made into a bathroom. It's not near another bathroom, so is it possible? Is the plumbing and what not in the walls? Asking about Lake Point Tower in chicago if that info is needed to answer the question. It was built in 1968. Thanks in advance folks!

  1. You can put a bathroom wherever you want. However, there is probably no plumbing near by if the other bathroom and kitchen are not close by. It will cost thousands of dollars in plumbing to have the plumbing done and may not be worth it to you. If there is a closet near the current bathroom, you may be able to add a small bathroom there. The plumbing is usually inside the wall right behind the toilet. This wall may be the common plumbing wall for you and your neighbors, as well. In which case, you can't add another bathroom on the other side of the wall. See if anyone else in the building has 2 baths and how they did it. Adding another bathroom may be more trouble than it is worth and you may want to consider another place, if a single bathroom is not sufficient for you. Sorry.
