will this headboard look become dated soon?

I want something contemporary, modern and exciting. I want to paint my walls a bright/light orange and paint my molding white, so maybe i would make this headboard complimentary shades of green and get a light green bed spread. I'm just afraid of it looking too much like the padding on the gym walls.... what do you think?? what if I made it that tall but only put it where the bed goes?

- it sort of does look like padding on the walls. i don't even think it's a head board. it would look better if the board was smaller.
- It looks like a lot of trouble to me ... but if you're talented (and obviously you are or you wouldn't be willing to do it) then I think it looks very good.
