Bedroom decorating help!?
i'm 15 and i have very old fashioned light pine furniture. it was very expensive and i am not allowed to paint, or get rid of it. however, i am redoing my room and would like a kind of contemporary feel (sort of mod). how can i accomplish this with my existing furniture? also, i am painting the walls white, except for one, with will be black with song lyrics painted on it. my bedding will be black with 6 large white flowers. i think my accent color will probably be red. i wanted to put a hanging bubble chair in the corner of the room, but was unable to find one under 200 dollars, so i think i might put a small armchair in the corner instead. any colors, lighting ideas, seating ideas, or curtain ideas would be appreciated. (i do not have a large room, and in the room i have a twin bed, a dresser which doubles as a vanity, another dresser, a bookcase, another dresser, a large desk, 2 windows and a smallish closet. all of my furniture peices are fairly bulky and tall.) my furniture has a small leaf and flower decal on each one. its small, but enough to make the furniture look very old fashioned. its also very girly, and i want to stray away from that.

- If your room is on the small side, you should probably go with lighter colors instead of the black and red. When you said light pine furniture I immediately thought "rustic." Like maybe you can go to Target and get a few of the hanging stars that are made of metal or glass and display those on the light pine furniture. Then maybe a simple black and white bed spread would be okay. But painting that one wall black is going to make the room look that much smaller. Maybe you can transfer two of fthe dressers into another room in the house. And the best way to make your room look bigger is to separate your room into sections...like make one area a work area, make another a sleeping area, make another a hang out area.
