Bedroom decorating/painting ideas?

First, here are pictures of the bedroom, some walls painted with primer some not. http://img30.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=081209182800.jpg First picture - View from window Second picture - View from closet Third picture - View from bed Fourth picture - View from door (with edits) So I REALLY want to paint this a bright, sunflower yellow. But in picture 3, you see the massive headboard of my future bed against the wall (the one in the picture is temporary). The new bed will go against the wall to the right of the door (your right in picture 1). It's too big to go where the bed is now. I don't know if that brown will look good with yellow. And I think painting my room a neutral red would be manly and I'd way prefer the yellow. Do you think the yellow will not work? If not other color ideas? Second, see the box I drew a (bad) cushion on in picture four. I can't get rid of it so I decided to make it into a seat. I want to paint like a simple design on it. Like different sized boxes or different size stripes. Do you think a design is a good idea (or that making it into a seat is a good idea at all)? If so what design and what colors in the design. Third, see the built-in shelf under tv in pictures three and four. What color would you paint that? Any other suggestions on what to do to make this room look good will be great, like lighting or painting ideas or rearranging furniture (I can't move the shelf or the box). Oh and door behind the big headboard is the closet. Thanks! Oh and I'm on a small budget, there's no going to Ikea for me.

1. i think yellow would look really nice in your room or maybe a light gray-blue color, or gray. check out sherwin-williams.com to get ideas on what color to paint your room. i think the headboard is way to big though, and will just take up way too room. you could get like a cute chair and put it next to that little built in seat thing, and instead make it a little table (if its tall enough). keep the built-in shelf white. check out this website, they have really cute accessories and comforters. http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/category.jsp?specialCategory=false&navAction=jump&navCount=45&itemCount=10&id=APARTMENT
