i want a retro 50's styled room but make it look a little cityish. if you have pictures that would be awesome! (CHEAP PLEASE)

1. This is easy. Go to Barbara Barry's website and get a feel for what is hot now. Upholstery is low, tight seats, conservative colors, metal legs. Now, for these items cheap, go to the Goodwill or Salvation Army. Seriously. I buy and sell high-end furniture for a living, and a lot of times I can get these exact frames that were popular "back when" for about $20. You take or make a slipcover with a new fabric and you have an instant retro couch for about $100. Barry's website will give you color ideas. The hardest thing to find will be a slipcover that you like, but when you do, choose your paint color based on the slipcover. Popular colors (right now) are hues of blue and brown, with orange, red and green used as complementary colors.
