- that color blends well with orange (a cool shade of course). your room will look retro! uhmm, also, try adding circles.. if you want, search for colorful retro pics.. that will give you some idea.. :)
- i would to to ebay.com..they have a lot of nice things for cheap.
- go get a 5 gallon bucket of drywall mud (8.00 from home depot) take a 10 inch wallpaper brush fill the brush with the mud. start in a corner of the room and do waves (floor to ceiling. let dry. sand off anything sticking out. color wash with rags or sponges. Get gold or bronze studio finish and lightly brush the waves. The best thing with this is when the teen goes off to college you can go over the walls with a sponge knock down texture. This will hide all the new holes in the walls and you can paint right over it. It's will be the new Italian look people pay $2,000.00 a room.
- For ideas try HGTV...they have a lot of things like that.
- watch the movie "down with love" i love the mid fifties "modern" theme throughout the movie. check out furniture makers herman miller, they specialize in midcentury furniture www.hermanmiller.com even if you can't afford the furniture, you can get ideas keep it simple, solid blocks of color. with that wall color i would tone down your bedding and drapery. cream/neutral tones will be sophisticated. use bright blue and blue-green throw pillows to make your wall color pop. to save yourself the trouble of painting details check out www.urbanoutfitters.com for wall decals. they also have some midcentury furniture ideas. a lot of teens struggle with organization, so make sure you include book cases and shelving. a folding screen or dressing screen can help you separate spaces
