- not really.. if you want an all in one, you get what you pay for.. 99% of HTIB subs suck... But you could buy a descent sub, then use bookshelf speakers, then just hook them up to the full channel plate amp on the sub.. if thats all your gonna be using it for I would just go with a 2.1 setup instead and save some $$, and in all reality the only reason you would need full 5.1 is for blu ray.. I would do what i said above or look at something like this.. I have this on my computer and its great http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Klipsch+-+ProMedia+2.1+Speaker+System+%283-Piece%29+-+Black/9382232.p?id=1218095770265&skuId=9382232
- Home theater in a box are not flexible for adding other equipment to it, some does not have any input jacks at all. You can can up grade with this unit down the road. Beside that the sound quality of most of them are not good. A separate receiver is the best choice and speakers from the likes of JBL, Infinity, Definitive Technology, and Klipsch, for receivers Pioneer, Pioneer Elite, Denon, Onkyo and Yamaha. Take a look at this unit at Fry's Electronic, Onkyo HT-S5200 (there is a new model out but can remember the model number) it is a separate 7.1 receiver and a 7.1 speaker set up for under $500. Hope this will help you out.
