How can I theme a bedroom around Disneyland's Pirates of the Caribbean?

I'm doing this kid's bedroom, and he wants it themed around Pirates of the Caribbean the ride. He's 16 years old, and a HUGE Disneyland-fanatic. he doesn't want something corny or childish, but he wants to go all out. He wants an authentic, real-deal sort of room. The room is large rectangular and has vaulted ceilings. He also wants it to be a little reminiscent of New Orleans Square. The painting job is already done, it's a tan base and it looks as if a pipe broke or something, cuz it appears to have water just pouring down and damaging the walls. He has a nice keyboard, and said he'd like that to be dressed up a bit more pirate-y. It has light oak panels which deters from the look he wants. He has the PotC attraction poster, but would love more posters. I told him about Disney's print on demand system, and he was very excited, but what print(s) should I get? The room is spacious, and he hates it. He wants it to be like the ride, where you never see the same thing twice. very busy! oh ya, he wants a desk as well (he's an artist). He said either a bar look, or whatever... Just something he could doodle on or write or jazz like that. Thanks for your help!

  1. try fishing nets on the walls, and rust colored paint with lots of skullls and swords... go to the ren faire 4 ideas
  2. I love it ! Okay this what I have in mind you said that you have a poster ,so go out and rent a projector and paint a mural on the walls ,then the ceiling since it;s vaulted a night sky would be perfect stars or mini lights ,find a fishing net and a treasure chest to store items inside ,a parrot on a perch you could even get a live one if you want could be on or by the bar made of plywood that are propped on two empty barrels, and he could even use it as a desk . And dark blue painted walls to mimic a night at sea! What do you think! Oh !and don't forget a telescope! Hi Chipcheep! I really love the murals that you have found ,that is exactly what I had in mind !
  3. awesome ideas http://boysthemebedrooms.com/pirate/pirates-bedroom-decorating-ideas-pirates-theme.html
  4. Get some plywood/MDF and build him a crow's nest on his pirate ship bed that you're gonna build him - LOL. Get a wooden kid sized ladder and a few toy nets to double as fishing nets. Its been about 20 years since I went to Disney, but they used to have projected images of ghost pirates and a dog holding keys. Turn his closet door into a jail cell and paint scallywags behind bars on it. My sons have a Peter Rabbit light in their room that turns and casts shadows (pictures actually) on the walls, its shade is made out of rice paper or something like that, and the images on the shade project onto the walls/ceiling when the lightbulb inside is turned on, if you can find one of these, I think they sell them at Walmart/Kmart, you could just rework the shade (change out the Peter Rabbit panels) and put in ghost pirate panels. I can't wait to change my sons' room, they need to be a little older though, we'll probably do a Star Wars theme, since they are both Star Wars junkies. Have fun.
  5. put some shelves on the wall wich represent a side of the boat or something... and add maybe umm some accents of things from the movie.. u know some like figurines and nick naks... stuff like that....u could also add some fishing nets to the wall... why dnt u go too www.piratesofthecarribean.com im not sure if it will bring u to the website but wen my aunt re does my cousins room(atleast once a year)l.. if he wnts a certain movie theme she checks out the movie online and than gets ideas.. also if u have a lake near by that has old ships in it, take some pix and blow them up.. thats an awesom touch a lil touch of relaity with the feel of history and the movie... good luck
