What colors go well with blue?

So I'm redecorating my bedroom. Entirely. I want the main color to be blue. The floor is already blue, so is the bedspread, and I'm planning on painting my walls and ceiling blue. I'm thinking of getting some new, contemporary furniture for it, what would you suggest to go with the rest of the bedroom? Any furniture is fine, really. I'm looking for a way to decorate it.

  1. White or turquoise, or a lighter blue.
  2. Blue walls and rugs -- to much blue it will be overwhelming! Tans and beige, Navy blue, brushed silver lamps. If you go with tan and light blue use light oak furniture- if you go with light blue and navy blue go with darker wood color furniture.
  3. I did a blue bedroom some three years back in a college project (on paper), in which used blue hue all over with tints and shades. It made a very gloomy effect though being beautiful. Now that you have taken pure medium blue on the floor, get a lighter blue of the same hue on two adjacent walls. You can also paint three walls luminous white and let the wall with bed be blue, the same as that of floor. Keep the cieling white otherwise you will feel too gloomy. Its better to get the wall against the wall textured.Useful accents that can be used as borders may be grey and orange, but take care to use less then 3% of orange if u use any. I mean by proportion in the whole room. Since you are a guy no pinks will be appreciated in your room, otherwise a pinch of lively pink would have been nice. Use crystal and bone china accessories. Use many alterations of textures in white, luminous white. Dont use cream or off white colour or grey at all in decoration pieces. Lighting fixtures should be more than usual in a blue room. Use nargis flowers, they will look nice. You can get white formica furniture or unpolished wood furniture in natural color. That will suit best. And last, avoid much printed exposures in the room.Dont use more than two or three especially if u choose to paint 2 or more walls pure medium blue.
  4. Brown might be good, it will contrast to the blue and that gives the brown an warm glow. The blue will look interestingly fresh with the brown. Violets is an option for shading. Mind that purples are all very different colors. White looks nice with blue too, but only blue and white might look cold.
