for a bedroom, what color furniture looks more modern/stylish with white walls?

i'm renting an apartment and we can't repaint the white walls. i want to make my bedroom look modern and stylish, and i don't know if birch wood (like a light colored wood) or darker wood for furniture would look better...or are there other options? i need a bed, desk, chair, dresser, and a full length mirror for sure. but i'm on a $500 budget for the entire room. any help? thanks :)

  1. anywhere from a tan color to black.... definitely metal, too... like, a black tv stand with metal drawer handles and legs and such...
  2. if your planning on wood furniture i think that a lighter color wood would look better cuz dark wood might make the room alot gloomier
  3. well pink would look very pretty and girly. black would match too. and tan and brown furniture would match for a modern and stylish. yellow is nice to go with white too.
  4. IKEA has amazing furniture in Cherry for wood.... Im sure they'd have a whole set for ur bed, desk, dresser...etc.
  5. I would opt for an expresso color for the furniture with stainless steel knobs or pulls. See what is available at Target, IKEA, or a local furniture store that carries modern styles. Expresso would be less stark against the white & give you more versatility than a plain black. I would get stainless or brushed steel finish for lamps and frames.
  6. I think black and white is very modern. White walls, black furniture and bright pops of your favorite color. Also, since you're on a budget you can get used furniture pieces and paint them all black. Painting them all the same color, whatever color you choose will give them all a cohesive appearence even if they don't really match.
  7. You may want to consider using silvery colour furniture which looks or walnut to give a contrast to your room and a zen modern look. $500 for the items you listed may not be enough. A proper sound reasonable bed frame plus mattress have already blow your budget
