Bedroom paint ideas and color help?

i am trying to figure out colors for a bedroom, I have a black and grey comforter and wood floors.... I want the room to be calming yet pop with color .... I like how a mild green looks but not sure about it on the walls .... I also like a dark blue but there is already a blue room in my house .... I want to give my room a wow factor. I do not want it too dark ( seeing i have black sheets for curtains ( i am making them into curtains) So basically i am stuck, I want a room where i can relax and write now it is fulled with marker on the walls and glow in the dark paint ... nicotine stained and the ceiling has burn marks from my brother ..... its just a white room.... I am thinking of two tone paint thing but i am not sure if i want to have stripes or like circles or something .... so if anyone could give me a good color that is relaxing for sleep but it not too relaxing becuase i spend alot of time in this room and right now i can not get anything done becuase the room looks horrible. I just turned 20 but i feel like i am living in a room for a 15 year old ..... PLEASE HELP ME ok the room right now has on the walls nicotine stains, writing from my friends ( from 2005 til last summer) It has Glow in the dark paint ( Which has faded and looks horrible) and has burn marks from my brother .... I just want a growen up looking room, none of my stuff matchs like i have stuff that would not fit any where else, and the room i think needs to be set on fire and re done lol but i can not do that .... I love black as a base color but i do like lighter colors too, so right now i am thinking of white Black grey and some other color .... The thing about Green i am scared it will be look bad like when i think of a green room i think puke green or lime green but i think it may work .... my favorite color is purple but seeing when i move out it has to be unisex and my father already said no black walls and no purple .... but i get to choose the stuff so yeah....

  1. paint it blue, or aprocot or your favrit collor
  2. light green sounds like a good idea. it will be a very natural and peaceful look. i also find it very refreshing because it reminds me of nature and water and it will brighten up the room if you also add in some plants ant things like that. like this room: http://www.channel4.com/4homes/images/mb/Channel4/4homes/design-and-style/design-by-space/bedroom/green-bedrooms/24-Neville-Johnson-Cappella-lg--gt_full_width_landscape.jpg as for the glow in the dark idea, thats a really cool idea! but you shouldnt make your whole room dark coloured. you could grab a section of it, and maybe paint a black box. then inside the box you can have glow in the dark writing. it wont be very relaxing to be sleep inside a glowing box, and as for working in it.. you will think its night time and that wont be a good working environment
  3. Black..
  4. Before you paint, you're going to want to paint your room with a sealant. A two-tone thing is good, and even some dark blue if that's what you like. Greens are pretty versatile too. Consider a feature wall of sage green with dark green stripes. Look into getting or making pictures for your wall for other colors: You should have something besides the black and grey, but I agree that it shouldn't be something that screams. Good luck!
  5. Might have to switch out that blue/grey comforter because you don't want to go with a blue color. How do you feel about purple? There's tons of different shades/hues. Since you've got black curtains already, i'd go for a light pale purple, and then paint a mural (they have stencils or even peel and stick wall appliques online) that incorporates black, dark purple, white and hints of magenta. You could try to find a white comforter with these colors in it to go. You can find magenta (or whatever color that's on that mural) accent pieces like pillows, rugs, lampshades etc. You could even find a basic white lampshade but find a scarf that incorporates these colors to go over the top of the lampshade (make sure you use VERY low power bulbs though). The light walls will be relaxing enough, and the black, dark purple and magenta will spark your creativity and give your room that wow factor that you're looking for.
  6. Consider it too. Thx :)
  7. I like the green idea, as it is soothing and adds some contrast with the black and gray. Another thought is to add a textured painting technique to add some pop. Here's more on that: http://www.oldhouseweb.com/architecture-and-design/decorative-painting.shtml
  8. i agree with the first answer that said apricot although he spelled it incorrectly
  9. It sounds like you are going to be busy redoing your room, so here is a suggestion. The color I would go with is white with just a tinge of color in it. I've done this to my bedroom and living room and I just love it. This way it just gives a hint of color that you choose. This allows color, but not to much color. Your curtains would look good with this also. Then add decor and accents with whatever you like to add more color to your room. Believe me you will like this. This will give your room a nice comfortable feeling whenever you're in there and won't be so overwhelming. I know an online store that has affordable decor and accents that might give you some ideas or might look great in your room. Also, I would suggest you prime the walls before you begin to paint with the color that you decide upon with. Have Fun Painting and Decorating!
