How to change a bedroom style working around a contradictory bed?

Currently the bedroom is black and pink and holds a large black leather bed. But I want to change the style to a more feminine pastels and vintage style. What's the best way to do this whilst keeping the bed?

1. Is the part of the bed that is black leather the headboard? If so its possible to reupholster the headboard if you are ok with that. Or if the headboard is removable you can get rid of it all together and hang something on the wall instead. But if you were going for 50's retro kind of vintage then black is perfect.
